The He Gets Us campaign is responding to criticism from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and others in response to the group’s Super Bowl ads that urged skeptics to show “love and respect to one another” instead of “responding to divisiveness in anger.”

The He Gets Us campaign, which describes itself as a “movement to reintroduce people to the Jesus of the Bible and his confounding love and forgiveness,” received backlash from one of the most progressive members of the U.S. House of Representatives over ads it aired during Super Bowl LVII on Sunday...

…One of the advertisements in question, titled “Be Childlike,” featured several pictures of children of different ethnic backgrounds embracing one another, followed by on-screen text reading, “Jesus didn’t want us to act like adults.” The ad, set to the tune of Patsy Cline’s “If I Could See the World,” concluded with a declaration that “He gets us. All of us.”

The other advertisement, titled “Love Your Enemies,” features multiple images of people entangled in intense conflicts with one another, including one depicting a protest against ongoing coronavirus lockdowns and another picture of violent ANTIFA militants. The ad concludes by saying, “Jesus loved the people we hate,” once again displaying the phrase “He gets us. All of us” on screen….

his news article covering the reply of the commercials creators to the criticism of secular progressives led by AOC is interesting. It is clear that the critics mistook the point of the ads. That the critics would compare the message to fascism is beyond all reason.

The idea of a child like faith in the love of a higher power is threatening to a state religion. The idea of loving those we argue with and disagree is diametrically opposed to the theology of woke cancel culture.

When you consider the fact that Fox Sports set the price of a 30 second spot in the Super Bowl at $7 million, you have to ask yourself, how "Christian" is the message when that money could have done something far more Christ-like, like feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless.

The Christian mission is to share the gospel with others.

Your post reminded me of this....

    John 12
3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

7 “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. 8 You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”

    Oh puleeeze....

Spending that many millions on proselytizing should revoke their tax-free status. It's not like anyone in this country is in the dark and never heard of this Christ figure. Leave it to evangelical "Christians" to not get it that their brand has become toxic and people would rather just say, no thanks.

    From the linked news:

“The goal is that the two commercials will not only inspire those who may be skeptical of Christianity to ask questions and learn more about Jesus, but also encourage Christians to live out their faith even better and exhibit the same confounding love and forgiveness Jesus modeled. Instead of responding to divisiveness in anger or avoiding conflict altogether, Jesus demonstrated how we can and should so confounding love and respect to one another.”

“On multiple occasions, Jesus used the term ‘childlike’ to refer to a humble and trusting attitude,” continued Vanderguard, noting that “Christians often refer to their faith as childlike, being humble enough to place one’s trust in a power greater than self.”…

1 Then Jesus said "Wouldn't it be cool if we could buy some air time during the Super Bowl?"
2 "Which when you think about it, REALLY shouldn't be taking place on a Sunday, should it?"
3 "But seriously, people either "get me" or don't "get me" on their own. Spending 7 million clamolas trying to con clueless people does sound like a waste of effort to me"
4 "And speaking of clueless, isn't Alicia Silverstone still looking fine after all those years?"

Are you critical of every single advertiser because they too could've been 'feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless'?.....or just the ones you don't like?

No need to respond, I know the answer.

faith based Initiates costs the taxpayers over 2 billion a year, plenty to pay for a 7 million dollar 30 second ad

    No they don't.

Of course, you being on the Left think that money the government is not getting is money that it is "costing" them.

A message of peace is dangerous to people who want a culture war.

    Evangelism is Christ-like.

Tubi could have fed hungry people but they bought an ad instead. I bet you have spent money on something you didn't need.

Well actually many people in this country are in the dark and need the true message of Jesus. The hatred and hopelessness infecting our country needs a message of his love and hope.

Mass shootings , despondent parents killing themselves and their children, people turning to drugs and alcohol and living on the street. Jesus heals people like these...and the mission for Christians are to give all people an option, a choice.

One thing you can bet on: The people behind these ads are taking a good cut of the donated money.

Churches are non profits. And all nonprofits have a spreadsheet that is the same or very close to what you have here.

Probably just the ones who spend $7,000,000 on propaganda, without even having a product to sell to make a return on....
