I have recently discovered "We The People" the online petition act and I would like to ask for some editing/proofreading comments from the members here. Whether you agree with my stance or not does not take precedence in this matter as I will be posting the petition regardless and rarely will there ever be a petition everyone will agree on. I am asking all of you for your help to word this in the most professional way possible so it is taken seriously. Header is 170 characters and body can be up to 800 characters total. This is what I have so far:

Header: Remove paid advertising from news broadcasts and prevent television viewer ratings from controlling news content.

Body: We the People of the United States petition the removal of advertisements from news broadcasting networks for one hour a night or the creation of an independent news broadcast that is free from advertising and viewer ratings. The American people have a right to be informed about the events taking place in our nation. The broadcast will contain news relevant to current events, the data will be factual, unbiased, and investigated thoroughly before presented to the public. The news broadcast will be backed by the First Amendment. Tax payer money can be used to purchase one hour of airtime each night from the most popular news networks or to run a separate broadcast altogether. This broadcast will be run by private citizens and not influenced by federal or state governments. Thank you.

I am definitely open to comments and I am good with re-worded versions as long as you can keep it under 800 characters :) Thank you all for your help in this matter. I believe this a petition that people don't know they need, but will understand once it is in place.
