With all of the negatives of yesterday's shooting, I though I show a thread where someone acted in a heroic fashion. Chris Mintz tried to disarm the shooter and was shot 7 times. I don't know if his actions stopped the shooter, but I am very certain that he might have saved other lives as the killer was not able to focus on others while fending off Mintz. Luckily, Chis Mintz survived.

Just think if Mintz had been armed.

no doubt he did... 7 bullets mean 6 could have been used on other people... and every second you delay that shooter, gives police more time to engage them... don't think of it as just a single act... it was several seconds tied up with him, possibly struggling for a few more seconds, then he has to stop while amped up and change guns or his magazine... adding more seconds to the equation... all told, what if he gave everyone around him and on that campus a mere 10 seconds... how many folks got out of sight, hid, or escaped from a sure death if they were all trapped in a room with this guy... 10 seconds is an eternity... life changing...

if more people charged at these criminals, who knows how much fewer deaths we would have, forcing them to change strategy... but then again, a whole lot easier for me to say charge into the flames than run away and save yourself right... its a very small and select crowd that does... which is what baffles me when people constantly attack officers put in situations just like this... they had to charge into an active shooter, because thats the new policy in departments across america, there is no more waiting and holding for backup to arrive, they are told, you run in and confront him at all costs... and that cost is their life... heavy toll and stress...

so not to turn this political... but a law or sign didn't stop the bad guy with a gun, a good guy with a gun did...

That's why it was a mistake to take away our pocket knives on airline flights. We learned our lesson during the 4th 9/11 flight. There is no way anybody will hijack a jet in that manner since 9/12.

A TRUE manly man. Charging someone with a gun, unarmed? That's some huge balls.

see I'm actually okay taking all weapons, assuming we can actually guarantee that, on a flight... because its an enclosed and controlled space... so if all parties were equal, I'm willing to bet 100 people will beat 4 on a flight... hands down, no weapons needed... unfortunately, we can't seem to ensure and equalized area (hence gun free zones will NEVER work the way they are intended, its just for prosecuting after someone gets caught)... I've kinda gone back and forth on the planes... would I want a plane of people with knives, or without... I would prefer nobody to have a weapon, so we can really get down to business quickly, but then I struggle and think, well we already know how much gets past these "professional agents" at the airports... so maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea for people to have knives, but how many people normally carry one, or would? would we have to issue a knife as a common device like cup holders in every seat to make it effective...

I keep going back and forth, since I realize, the problem isn't lawful people having weapons, its them not having weapons when someone bad does, and uses it...

I heard he's from texas... I guess everything really is bigger in texas... (this is just a joke I don't actually know if he's from texas, it would be funny now though)

Sort of good to have a few Vets around.

Maybe they should be provided with some sort of financial incentive to carry when they return, after getting over their PTSD, etc.

Another hero coming from Roseburg? Incredible! Alek Scarlatos, one of the Paris train shooter heroes had also attended Umpqua Community College.

Roseburg needs to bottle their water and ship it over to Washington DC. Douglas County is where real men come from. And I am not just saying this because I was born in Roseburg. Hehehe.

The man deserves a medal. What he did is above and beyond what most of us are capable of doing. He is a very special person.

Somehow I don't think Obammy cares enough to invite him to the White House. Nor is he ethnic enough for MIT to call with scholarships.

That's ok because he is still my hero like Brian Terry is.

I don't know if he will or not. But I am sure that was the farthest thing from Mr. Mintz's mind when he confronted the shooter.

I sure Brian Terry never thought Obammy gave those guns to the drug gang raiders either.

But that clock kid ohh what a hero.
