http://www.nwfdailynews.com/articles/tallahassee-51311-track-concealed.html TALLAHASSEE It looks as though Florida will soon become the first state in the nation with more than 1 million concealed weapons permits. Currently, about 950,000 Floridians have active concealed weapons permits. Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, who operates the gun permit program, says his office is issuing between 10,000 and 15,000 permits every month. At that rate, Florida would pass the 1 million permit mark before the end of the year. . . . Putnam says Floridas concealed weapons permit holders are overwhelmingly law-abiding citizens. About 6,200 gun permits have been revoked out of 2.2 million over a 25 year period (issued since 1987). Records show 168 permits were revoked for gun-related crimes. 168 permits revoked for gun related crimes, out of 2,200,000 permits. Thats 7.6 per 100,000 and that includes non-violent gun related infractions such as improper concealment or entering a place you should not carry. When Florida was debating the "shall issue" law in 1986 the gun control fanatics predicted a blood bath, a shootout on every street corner, Florida would be the Wild West, bullets would be flying and killing bystanders, people would get shot just walking up to a stranger to ask for directions. Crime in Florida was decreasing before 1987. After 1987, it decreased even faster, and faster than the national average. Murder rates are way down, particularly outside Miami and away from the drug corridor. Where is the blood bath? Where are all the dead innocents? Where are the masses of accidental shootings? When will the gun control fanatics admit gun control doesnt work and firearm ownership is actually good for people? Come on Gun Control Fans, when will you take responsibility for your false rhetoric?
