High court strikes Massachusetts abortion 'buffer zone'

Well, now isn't that just special. An anti-abortionist's constitutional right to GET IN A WOMAN'S FACE trumps her constitutional right to ABORT. It won't be long folks, ONE OF THESE WOMEN ARE GOING TO GET KILLED ON THE WAY IN!! Just watch. But good news is that, she won't abort, will she??

I get it! LEGALLY, the buffer zones were arbitrary and I am sure the detailed decision states that but that ruling SUCKS.

All nine justices concluded that the Massachusetts law was unconstitutional, but the justices were split on why, with Chief Justice John Roberts appearing to be the swing vote. He joined the court’s liberal block, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, in saying that the law’s limits on speech were too broad.
“Here the Commonwealth has pursued [public safety] interests by the extreme step of closing a substantial portion of a traditional public forum to all speakers,” Roberts wrote for the court. The extent of those zones “burden substantially more speech than necessary to achieve the commonwealth’s asserted interests.”

They ruled properly.........you cannot infringe on one right to protect another.

Also as the other poster said, if the protestors were planning to kill somebody, that imaginary line isn't going to stop it. I can't recall ever hearing of a person going to get an abortion being killed back before the unconstitutional buffer zones were created. (yes, there were cases of abortion doctors and clinic workers being killed, but that's a different issue).

 

Even condoms are not 100% effective.
