Still haven't seen a credible 'attempted coup' claim made in court or anything of the like. It was a riot, an unlawful riot(not that there ever are 'lawful' ones, but using law speak here.) and the criminals have been prosecuted accordingly. What they haven't been prosecuted for is an 'insurrection' or a 'coup', because the 3 hour disturbance was neither.

Congress looks like it'll tighten up, and even if it's no red wave it'll be redder than the last Congress. That's because the people are tired of this crap and expect the left wing to govern accordingly. 1/6 was over 2 years ago, the American People need a government to tackle the challenges of our current modern realities.

 

A coup is to basically override the sitting government. At the time of 1/6, Trump was still the President(if we remember, Sally Yates made the same argument regarding the President-Elect in targeting the Michael Flynn investigation.) if we accept Yates's legal argument at its word, then the sitting government was Donald Trump not-then President Elect Biden.

One could reference the House of Representatives as "the government" but legally and politically no one has ever(for good reason) given it that distinction. It's a part of but not the government, lest we confuse it with the executive branch.
