I am often struck of "history" being stated of which I have never across in decades of reading? 1) That Hitler took arms from the German public 2) That the Hitler Jugend was used to preach arms control (when you know the history of that group this is particularly bizarre). 3) That public used personal hand guns and rifles as the primary way to overthrow dictators. 4) That US guns had ever been taken from those who already had them (as compared to banning future sales) in any number. I would love to see some historical evidence (actual history not claims) for those points
What I really want to know, since there is no historical evidence for any of this, is who makes this stuff up?
These photos are boys in the Hitler Youth organization who were learning how to fire a rifle, as they had to be capable of defending the Fatherland. The Germans had no idea about gun control at all and it was mostly these young boys who were defending Berlin when the Soviets captured the city. In the Battle for Berlin, members of the Volkssturm (mainly young boys from the ages of 13-18 and old men) were used by the German high command as a last-ditch attempt to defend Berlin.
