Are you (*)(*)(*)(*)in me? $38,000 for a freakin Handbag! That's $15,000 more than I paid for my car! And it's a damn nice car! That's (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up! http://omg.yahoo.com/news/oprah-gets-swiss-apologies-racist-encounter-135717015.html
Boy, I thought everyone knew who Oprah was. Hope she bought half a dozen of them and had the clerk gift wrap them.
Oh this happens all the time. These high end stores know their clients, strangers come wanting to look at expensive items, they assume they dont have the money and just window shopping, or it is the start of a robbery
I believe it. I'm just amazed that with Oprah being as successful as she has been, that someone wouldn't instantly recognize her.
YepI Would go there before the racist card. If Rosanne Barr went in they would have done the same thing.
There is a story that years ago George Harrison got thrown out of a Rolls Royce dealership because he was barefoot. Apparently even the case full of cash was not enough to convince them he was genuine
I'd love to be a black billionaire. I could have fun with that. I'd get me some outfits from the Salvation Army Thrift Shop, go without shaving or showering for a week and then I'd go into some of these stores and act all shifty eyed like I was looking for something to steal, then when one of the employees looked at me the wrong way, I'd go off on them. Call in their boss, threaten to buy the damn place and fire them all.
$38,000 for a PURSE? Wow....... and there's enuf rich women who'd buy it and not think anything of it.... I don't care how rich I was - there's no way I'd spend that much on a purse. One of my daughters MIL is very wealthy and she gave her a purse she didn't want anymore that she spent $500 on. Not a thing wrong w/it. My daughter put it on eBay and sold it for $250...... lol......
I was thinking the same thing but I can't stand Julia Roberts, so I try not to bring hr up too often.
It's all relative. Oprah is worth a billion bucks. That's a thousand millions. So if she buys a purse for $38,000, that's the equivalent of someone with a net worth of a million bucks buying one for $38. For someone with a net worth of $100,000 it's the equivalent of buying one at a garage sale or the Salvation Army Thrift store for $3.80.
I highly doubt 7 billion people would know who she was and im pretty sure some countries dont give a flying (*)(*)(*)(*) about Oprah.
I don't give a flying (*)(*)(*)(*) about her either, but it's hard not to see her face here and there and know who she is. I guess It's easy for me to assume though, coming from America, that everyone sees the same things. Funny story in any event.
Supposedly Bill Gates was asked to vacate one of Bellagio's villas that he was staying in. He was dumbfounded that he was asked to leave. Because he wasn't gambling millions like an incoming whale, even the Microsoft Mogul was bumped.
So it was racist because she was black or because the clerk didn't know her as part of their regular clientele?...I'm thinking the latter, but blacks see everything as racist even when there is none.
Sounds pretty far fetched to me. They may not have comped him the room, but I find it impossible to believe that he was actually kicked out.
