I have a storage shed about 200 feet from the house that I need to monitor , but I can't find the suitable technology I'm looking for .

The problem I'm having is that my storage shed is 200+ feet away , I can't see it , and it's being broken into regularly.

I am looking for something that will alert me via a wireless signal that my shed is being vandalized.

It has to be wireless , because I don't have AC power to the shed .

I sure hope one of you tech gurus can help me out here with a few links. Thanks , Hillbilly

A big dog fits the specifications you have defined.

the big dog stays at the house . . but thanks for the idea.

no , I need to catch them in the act , that way I can load them up and take them home to Mommy & Daddy . . .

    or

I can hold them for the Law , but that'd not be the best way to handle it , us being country folk and neighbors as well .

It's just too far away to run an extension cord , ya know ? hence the wireless need .

Is the shed in sight of your house? Put a decent wireless camera facing the shed entry on your house. Find one with software that allows you to set a zone where motion detection will alert you even by cell phone message if you want. Meanwhile, you have a nice video record for the cops.

Since you said you have no power at the shed, I think your options are pretty limited.

Home security systems do make various battery operated devices which talk to a control unit (in the house). I don't know if 200 yards is too far though. My guess is yes.

I suggest you buy youself a 12 guage, a few good cigars, and a lawn chair and spend a few nights out there.

Better yet, set cool booby-traps like nets and foot grabs.

Try just putting up some non-functioning, very visible video cameras on the shed roof. Maybe just the sight of the cameras will scare away the intruders.

I just googled "battery operated wireless cameras home security" and got 14,200,000 hits. Quickly glancing at a few sites , I saw several with a range of 300 ft.
