"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
    Leviticus 20:13

This is a subject I often bring up to my brother, I believe he ought to get on the band wagon for a CCW permit. He has a not so great handgun he carries in his car, but under Colorado law he cannot carry it on his person. I have been pushing him to sell his Sig P250 (avoid that gun... just sayin'... I had one in .45ACP and it sucked) for either an M&P9 or M&P Shield. Single action striker fired > double action. it seems to be a tough sell. I guess he likes carrying a (*)(*)(*)(*)ty firearm and without proper training. *shrugs* I guess I take the notion of carrying a weapon (whether it be on my person or just in the car) a bit more seriously.

I find it concerning and downright frightening that the arguments against homosexuality call for the death of homosexuals (no need to deny this, there no need to be intellectually bankrupt). I suppose if you do not believe homosexuals should be put to death, then why cite the verse to begin with? Amusing. I cannot really picture myself being so intellectually bankrupt.

Do any of the homosexuals on the board feel the need to carry a firearm?

    huh

so now we equate how one has sex to necessitating a handgun?

    good grief

I don't think the gun cares in the least whether the woman sleeps with men or with other women.

    you are still losing me

    here's a tip

do not assume that people share the same beliefs as you. When trying to convey a message, you must be as clear as crystal as possible. For example, I have made it abundantly clear that IMHO the only difference between a gay and straight person is how they have sex. We cry, bleed, walk etc etc the same.

So, try and drop the games, be clear with what you are trying to say and then say it.

I still stand by my statement that the gun (being inanimate) could care less about the owner and what the owner does in his/her bedroom thus I am still floundering here wondering what linkage there is between handguns and homsexuality

Some people harbor ill will against homosexuals. The argument is simple.

Which is completely irrelevant considering I have never made an argument that gives an inanimate object, such as a firearm, conscienceness.

The question is that in light of this ill will and hatred, if the homosexuals on this board feel the need or desire to carry a forearm for self-defense. People can carry a firearm for any number of reasons, however I am curious to see if this particular reason appears in anyone's motives. People who can justify violence through religious beliefs concern me. I know crazy people who hate non-Christians, and I decided the day of the supposed rapture might be a good day to carry a concealed weapon and have a few mags ready for the rifles.

It hard to justify a disdain towards homosexuals without the Old Testament.

ahhh, OK. Now you are getting more clear

As i posted in another thread, 1.7% of the adult population claim to be gay.

Now let's look at the white population and the recent flurry of anti-white crimes. Should you eprhaps be also asking if all white people should carry handguns

Next, before you go off on your anti-Christian diatribe might I suggest visiting this site

Um..... I am not anti-Christian. I am going on a mission trip with a church this October... doesn't sound very anti-Christian to me. I am however, against blatant and unrelenting stupidity.

The thread is not addressing the imaginary race war imagined and fantasized by right wing nationalists, but whether or not homosexuals feel the need or have felt the need to carry a firearm for personal protection for the specific reasons stated above.

    hmmm

Again I will take on face value what you say but your posts contradict them. Broad brushing Christians is what you already did in this thread. Then, a strawman is also created about gays needing to carry firearms because of Christians. Come on Wolverine.........be clear. Please stop insulting us by beating around a bush.

Fortunately for us, most people pick out the part they find reasonable (the part that condemns gays), while ignoring the part they and society in general would find unreasonable (the part about killing them). I might need a gun to protect myself from someone that believed in the quote to its fullest, but I don't need a gun to protect myself from cherry pickers who are looking for a quote to back up their beliefs while dismissing the inconvenient parts.

Not that this sentiment couldn't change in the future, in which case I might need to reconsider. I've been subject to verbal ridicule, but never physical, to this point. Perhaps I'd have a different stance if I had grown up elsewhere.

Hmm... so we should judge the whole gay movement based on the actions of a segment of drag-queens (nice avatar), but when it comes to a statement that makes Christians generally look bad, suddenly you jump to the defense. Perhaps you see the problem in judging the whole for the segment after all.

I suspect that there is a small minority that would stand by the quote from Leviticus, fully, including the part where the homosexuals are put to death. I also assume that the vast majority are civil enough to not take the quote too seriously... not enough to want to kill anyone, but just enough to subscribe to the disapproval or condemnation. And then there's another small segment, confused in general about the OT and how it can be reconciled with the NT, from shellfish to homosexuality and why we pick some parts to follow, and others not. Speaking of christians as if they are one whole that should reflect on each other is a little unfair, I agree. Christians are as diverse as the LGBT.

That said, I don't assume that the OP was speaking about all christians in general, as though they would all kill a homosexual on sight. Instead, he's asking if we feel threatened by christians who quote a verse that says we should be killed, even if that group doesn't appear to be sincere about the killing part. Based on his many other posts, he does seem to be sincerely Christian, but also sincerely confused about some of the teachings many Christians subscribe to.

Personally, find the verse itself disturbing, but I've never felt physically threatened by anyone quoting it.

I am not a homosexual, but if I was I would at least have a gun in my home. Likewise if I had a gay son or daughter I would certainly understand and support their decision if they wanted a gun too. This hatred towards gays is undeniable no matter how hard people try to deny it. I'm sure most gay critics would not want to do harm to any gays, but with that much hate circulating, why take chances? There's always going to be a loony toon lurking some where!

I know a lesbian on another forum who is EXTREMELY pro-firearms. She carries one with her all the time. I think she is very smart for doing so.

    nah

the thread is clear once you pull aside the veil the OP tried to use

Christians hate gays therefore gays must carry firearms

what utter nonsense. This thread is nothing else but a Christian bash because we are all so vile and hateful toward gays................oh brother

carry a gun if you want because it appears to be getting worse out there and it has nothing to do with whom you lay. Who knows, if you carry a gun maybe the life you save might be mine or one of my children

And, if you feel as gay people that you must carry because of the evil Christians then it's yet another reason to stop supporting liberals. They don't like the 2nd amendment and look at the UN treaty that Obama wants to sign

so, liberals don't view gay people as equal to everyone else because they preach stuffing you into a silo

liberals don't like guns but here you say that you need them because of the nasty Christians

sounds to me like supporting liberals does absolutely no good for gay people

and shame on those in this thread who do not call out the OP for what this thread really is or, maybe you also believe the nonsense

    Nope.

I said that some Christians use Leviticus as an argument against homosexuality.

I would assume that if someone uses a verse that calls for the deaths of an entire social group, perhaps that is something that can be given some thought?

The Christians that I hang around with are not so bigoted or closed minded. Joys a progressive modern church devoid of bigotries eh?

One slight correction, I do not subscribe to Christianity. I believe that is far too limited in the scope of spirituality and I do not believe it to be the one and only truth (there are far too many things that simply do not make sense).

I do however (when I have the opportunity, which has been rare since May) attend the Presbyterian church. And will be participating in a mission trip with them this October.

You almost had in until you ventured into your silly conspiracy theory.

Yes, the thread is about the "evil" Christians. Not all Christians. My question is, the largest argument against homosexuality is Leviticus. Leviticus calls for the deaths of homosexuals. Does that make homosexuals uncomfortable? Do they feel a need to carry a gun? If they do is it because of anti-gay sentiments in America?

The question is very simple. Very straight forward. It doesn't need your red herrings and strawman to cloud the issue.

Being a non-Christian, I think the above is a great reason to own firearms. Not for Christians in general, but the small number who are either 1.Crazy 2.Violent 3.Both.

    Of course, you are correct.

People prone to being violent should know (by know), that they will likely receive what they dish out.

"Christian" (which I am) or not... people have a right to protect themselves. And how many "gay" military and ex-military people are out here these days? Anyone who thinks that threatening homosexuals in ANY way is completely without 'consequences', really needs to THINK.

Most people are not about violence, but I've met very few human beings, who do not intend to defend themselves when necessary.

The great thing is, most Christians do not take the Bible literally. Most will cite Leviticus but few believe that it should be followed through with.

However it is the few that should be concerning. The link is a good example.

Do you suppose those Christians that go to events hold signs, "(*)(*)(*)(*) are going to hell", "God made AIDS for (*)(*)(*)(*)", "God Hates (*)(*)(*)(*)", etc etc etc... Do you suppose these events and sign holders reflect negatively or positively on Christians? And should they?
