The invitation is exactly the same in spirit and aspiration -- to get each of our warring-sides to tell the other what we REALLY want, and, what is necessary in order for us to be able to achieve useful, mutually-beneficial compromise so that we ALL can survive and PROSPER!

Disclaimer: As most here know, I am a Right-wing Conservative -- especially on economic matters. That means nothing of significance in itself except that I want you to know my orientation while I tell you in all truth that I do not (NOT) intend to bias or 'color' this thread in any way.

If I make comments AS a Right-wing Conservative, in this thread, I will do so with the sole intention of communicating what I think we on the Right REALLY want, and what we could do to achieve meaningful, beneficial compromise. Thank you....

So what do I really want ?

Interpreting the intent of the Constitution and enforcing the rule of law.

Defending and protecting America's sovereignty.

Protecting America's culture, cistoms, traditions, language and ethnic makeup of the country.

Reestablishing the American pioneer spirit that made America great and different from the rest of the world.

 

In answering your question, my assumption is that you are talking specifically about immigration.

It is my sincere belief that there was a time and place in this country where we desperately needed unskilled labor in order to build railroads, fuel westward expansion, and supply the labor needed to take advantage of the industrial revolution etc. We desperately needed people, and their specific skill level was fairly irrelevant. In order to fill this need, the marketing slogan "Give us your poor, tired, and huddled masses" worked very well. While being the beacon of freedom was a nice fringe benefit, it was NEVER the true driving force behind the marketing push to attract unskilled labor from anywhere in the world. The true driving force behind that marketing push was to do what is best for this country, which was to produce unskilled labor to fuel OUR growth.

Those days are long gone. We no longer need more unskilled labor, in fact, we have too much of it already. Our biggest economic problem currently is the income inequality between skilled and unskilled labor, and we have become a society of haves and have-nots. The absolute LAST thing that we need is to be continually bringing in more have-nots, which will only serve to exacerbate the problem of income inequality. Bringing in more unskilled labor only serves to hurt our current unskilled labor by adding to the supply of unskilled labor. There is plenty of demand to come to this country that we can be much more discerning in whom we let in. If what is best for OUR economy is to import more engineers, then by golly, our policy ought to be to let in more engineers. It is wholly illogical to let in people that have little to no education, and especially if they do not speak our language. I know that it can be argued that some of them will have kids that will go on to do great things, which is undoubtedly true, but that characterization is entirely ignoring the odds of such a thing occurring. You can rest assured that the child of an incoming engineer has a much greater chance of being an asset to this country than does the child of an unskilled immigrant that does not speak the language. Unskilled labor that does not speak the language is going to be a major drain on our economic safety net, while the engineer is going to be a contributor to our economic safety net. In this way, bringing in unskilled labor hurts our current have-nots, and bringing in engineers helps our current have-nots. I support policies that help our nations poor, rather than hurts them.

With all of that being said, I believe that we need to change our rules for incoming legal immigrants, AND we need to take drastic measures to curb illegal immigration to the absolute best of our ability. This clearly includes building a wall in conjunction with increased border enforcement. To pretend like a wall is not a part of this process is intellectually dishonest. You could theoretically have a maximum security prison without any walls if you hired enough guards, but the cost of those guards over time would be so astronomical, that obviously you would be far better served by having prison walls in conjunction with a lower level of manpower versus what it takes to secure a prison without any walls. To pretend like building a wall is the more expensive option, in the long run, is either ignorant or intellectually dishonest. I believe that your average leftist is just following what they have been told, and they probably do honestly believe that a wall is more expensive, so I would attribute that to ignorance. Your leftist politicians, however, understand this to a deeper level, and they are simply being intellectually dishonest playing upon the ignorance of a large swath of their followers.

I could write a lot more on this topic, but will opt to leave it at that for the time being.

Seal the southern border shut. Over the last 30 years, over 20 million illegals have evaded border patrol and current fencing. The cost burden of illegals is estimated at $250 Billion per year as of now.

Visa applications for those south of the border should follow the same guidelines as required for Eastern Europeans. This will result in a visa approval rate of likely under 10%. No more visa overstays in other words. Only real tourists.

Flat tax rate of 10% across the board, regardless of income level.

Eliminate capital gains tax.

Eliminate death tax.

Term limits. 2 terms for Senators, 6 for Representatives.

E verify.

No birthright citizenship for anyone who entered illegally or overstayed a visa.

End catch and release. Asylum seekers must apply at a US consulate in Mexico, limited to Mexicans only pursuant to the International Treaty for Asylum seekers.

Merit based immigration policy.

Free market health care.

Only allow free care at hospitals for emergencies to those without insurance. In other words, don't haul your entire pack of illegals into the emergency room for a case of the sniffles. Illegals who use emergency care will be subject to automatic deportation upon release from the hospital.

Get out of Syria and Afghanistan. After Rocket Man is taken care of, out of South Korea. Limited forces only in Europe, make the Germans pay or sweat, I don't care.

End this stupid s**t with Russia. They are more like Americans than any country in Western Europe, except Poland.

Balanced budget Amendment.

No more legislating from the bench. Apply the Constitution as written.

Welfare reform. If you're able-bodied (obesity doesn't count as non-abled), you have 6 months MAX to receive any kind of welfare. Means tested by a panel. Over 60 million currently on the dole.

 

I’m not the one insisting America should “protect its ethnic makeup”. I asked him how he is defining that. We’ll see what he answers. My bet is that his idea of an “ethnic makeup” that he believes America should protect is the one where whites are a majority (IE the one based on more than a century of ethnic cleansing and active oppression).

Article 30 of the Mexican Constitution states that any child born of Mexican parents, regardless of where they are born (for example here illegally) are Mexican citizens by birth.

Do you know anything about farming? Of course not. Driven a tractor? Of course not. I have and I do. There will be no recession..ever...because of a lack of illegals. We have 60 million able-bodies moochers on the welfare roles that can pick tomatoes and strawberries.

 

In no particular order:

1. Lifetime federal term limits. 5 terms for House, 2 terms for Senate, 20 years for all executive level government employees. Mandatory retirement at 75 for all federal judges. Once employed by the federal government in any capacity other than active military service, 10-20 year ban on working for any lobby, foreign interest, public union, government contractor, PR firm, related law firm, grantee or entity that derives more than X% of its revenue from government revenue. Once employed by the federal government in any capacity other than active military service, a rebuttable presumption of the illegality of any speaking fees, book deals, or other payments not -earned- in reasonable proportion to similar private sector earnings is created.

2. Abolishment of all federal grants, aid, contracting, other than military. Growing the government via a 500% increase in contracting and similar increase in grants since the 80s should no longer be available as a Complex power and wealth enriching tactic. If the government is to be grown, it is to be grown in plain view of the voting, taxpaying public.

3. Abolishment of all forms of gender and race-based affirmative action. Relaxation of sovereign immunity with respect to treble damage civil suits related to discrimination against -anyone-.

4. Abolishment of all federal public unions or national unions of federally subsidized employees including, but not limited to, SEIU, NEA and government related branches of other unions such as AFL-CIO. Mandatory disclosure of payments by political and special interest-related entities in exchange for articles, entertainment placement, videos, demonstrations, internet and social media posts. Treble civil damages available against violators.

5. Privatizing and sunset of Social Security and Medicare. Social Security Disability and Medicaid turned back to the States, who may keep or abolish as see fit within guidelines.

6. Rewind of at least half of the Executive Branch growth and power grab, and illicit, mostly 20th century jurisprudential enabling of it including regulations and rules. ALL "Commerce Clause" jurisprudence is presumed overturned unless and until it is revisited and alternate Constitutional grounds are established for its various holdings.

7. Voting for elected federal officials shall require a) Federally issued picture ID presented at the polls; b) 21 years old or active military service; c) fluent literacy in the English Language of at least an 8th grade level, alternatively proven by HS diploma or GED; d) minimum lifetime amount of $10,000 of federal income taxes (not payroll taxes) paid.

8. Abolish the CIA, Department of Education, Department of Commerce, Department of Energy, and several other non enumerated federal agencies.

9. All jurisprudence related to, limiting, bypassing the Takings Clause of the 5th Amendment and the 10th Amendment is presumed overturned unless and until it is revisited.

10. NYT v Sullivan is overturned. Any media company or outlet that blends entertainment, opinion, commentary, partisan positions with reporting of current events OR cannot prove reporting objectively verifiable, comprehensive, in context facts with respect to the news of the day is presumed not included within the protections afforded a "free press" under the Constitution.

No company seeking press protections having greater than $30 million in total revenue from itself, subsidiaries and affiliates shall be other than publicly owned and traded, and no single person, entity, group, other company shall own more than 5% of the stock of said "press" company for Constitutional and other press protections to continue.

11. Allocate $100 billion dollars or more for the building of a Southern Border Wall, repeal all Kennedy era immigration laws and start from scratch. Immigration to the United States shall be merit based and in accordance with demonstrated need within the U.S. economy.
