Lord knows you don't need to be smart to survive and breed in todays world. Human evolution will take a new course. Promoting enhanced sexual characteristics. A refusal to think before you screw someone. A genetic predisposition against wearing condoms, taking the pill and other forms of contraception. As well as a predisposition against performing abortion. Who occupies a larger segment of the gene pool nowadays depends purely on how many kids (mistakes or not) you choose to have. The 'breeders' are coming. People geared for nothing more than reproduction. Who don't need strength or intelligence to succeed. But an odd urge to have several dozen children with multiple partners. What could be the implications of these breeders? If not the path I've described, how do you believe human evolution will steer itself in the future? How might we curb the process of human evolution? Is there even a morally acceptable way to perform eugenics? Or are turbo horny large breasted ditsy girls and tank horse hung dimwitted macho guys something you really want in the world of tomorrow? People like that breed successfully in the short term, but you get what I call the "orc boil" effect. I call it that because I'm a D&D nerd, but bear with me. Orcs breed quickly and plentifully. Orc mothers bear lots of young, and orcs reach sexual maturity earlier than humans. Combine that with the way orcs will mate with pretty much anything and can often produce orc children doing it, and what you have is a situation where just a few breeding orcs can generate big numbers in just a couple of decades. But natural resources remain limited. There's only so much food to go around. That means that the orcs have to go out and find more food, which is usually guarded by something that doesn't want to share it with orcs, which means the orcs have to fight for it. And while an individual orc is pretty tough, they don't fight well in groups (unlike hobgoblins), which means they tend to get killed off in massive numbers until you're back where you started. So when stupid people breed quickly, and they do, they quickly outpace their ability as a population to take care of themselves. So it becomes like the ebb and flow of tides -- the population swells enormously, then dies back suddenly and pretty thoroughly, then swells again, then dies back again, and so on. We've all seen the movie Idiocracy, right? If you haven't, you should. It's really funny and it reminds me a lot more of this forum than it should. It's also an insightful movie, except that things couldn't ever get quite that bad because people that stupid couldn't maintain the infrastructure necessary to support that size of population for very long.
The way the world is developing the idea that you could breed so much that you run out of food is far-fetched. Modern agriculture is exploding and providing huge capacities too feed people. Also if we breed so much that the food starts running out.. breeders aren't orks! There humans like you and me. So we would ALL start dying out from hunger.. What's the solution to this problem though? How will they be fighting each other for food in the future? I don't see it happening myself. I'd imagine we'd all sink in the boat together..
It's mainly created from the Welfare programs established in the USA. Those who "breed" endlessly are on the Government checks to keep their themselves and their children alive even if they add nothing to society for years or quite possibly never add anything substantive. If welfare programs never existed... the "Breeders" wouldn't exist to the point you see them today.
Back here in reality, qualities skew towards the mean over generations. A child of stupid parents is likely to be more intelligent than they, and the child of intelligent parents is likely to be less intelligent than his parents. This has always been how societies are organized. Elites never have as many children as non-elites. I don't think human evolution is going to happen anymore. We're more likely to change our environment to suit us than we are to be changed by the environment. What makes you think eugenics would be required? That is a poor proposal, genetically speaking. Genetic diversity is what's necessary... not genetic conformity.
Lack of intelligence isn't going to kill us all off. Intelligent people with errant ideas, devoid of wisdom and bound up in their own self-centered world of me and mine vs. you and yours - THEY ARE THE ONES leading us to destruction. .
I think human evolution is 'evolving' into the next phase. Evidenced by the liberal ideology. Liberals seem to all think the same thoughts..they appear to be virtually identical....maybe nature intends for them to eventually just be one human being. Seeing how they prefer to abort their young, thus reducing their number. Not to mention the 'gay factor'. Gay's are not prone to reproduce. Possibly the liberal support of both gayness and abortion are genetically encoded, designed to reduce their numbers..an 'evolutionary' scheme. Maybe by 2100 there will be but a handful of liberals...with any luck, they'll all be gay.
I'm not sure what you're getting at. You seem to be all over the place, but I think human evolution has about run it's course. We are close to the point when we will be able to control it for ourselves. Hopefully the social structures will allow parents to make their own decisions about this rather than some UN committee.
People keep attributing these vast powers to the UN, but the organization barely has enough money to keep the doors open and barely enough clout to condemn genocide.
