The FBI used the media to corroborate something they knew was false, by leaking parts of it to the medua, and then premedia, the media's reporting on their leaks it to the court as corroboration. In short the dossier corroborated itself through the media. You see this on Wikipedia a lot. Someone will write something salacious with no sourcing, the media picks up on it, then the editor who put the salacious material in uses the media's reporting as a source. It's called Wikipedia fact laundering. Now the FBI is doing it too.
Here is the truth on this matter. If Page was not a part of the Trump advisory staff and the FBI got a FISA warrant to check him and his little Russian Spies and Friends out , does anyone here want to claim that Nunes or Trump would actually GAS enough to smear the FBI in order to defend Page?
The history being the willingness of the majority party to directly undercut and go against the wishes of its own intelligence appointees in order to undermine a valid investigation.
So now you admit that the reason the Steele dossier was essential is because they would not have sought the FISA warrant without the dossier. Still waiting on the proof that the memo was actually used in the FISA application though.
The problem is this so called memo by Nunes had and has absolutely one and only one purpose and that is to undermine the Mueller investigation. The Demnocrats acted to protect the investigation .
"The dossier- compiled by Christopher Steele (Steele dossier) on behalf of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Hillary Clinton campaign formed an essential part of the Carter Page FISA application." "Furthermore, Deputy Director McCabe testifed before the Committee in December 2017 that no surveillance warrant would have been sought from the FISC without the Steele dossier information." You are attempting to make a distinction without merit.
You seem to be saying that if the dossier ITSELF was not admitted to the FISA court no harm no foul. That's absurd. It's the information that was used and that information came from an unsubstantiated dossier, information the FBI KNEW had not been corroborated but was used anyway.
And what proof do you have of that? Where does the word "essential" come from? The FISA Application or Trey Gowdy? I'm actually not in disagreement with you, if it can be proven (and this memo is proof of nothing) that the dossier WAS truly essential. I don't believe it was, but open to the tiny possibility it was... EDIT - This is one of the problems with a non-partisan memo coming out of committee...
That's the entire point of this exercise! Now the underlying evidence is being demanded by the public. The Inspector General’s report is due in a few weeks. It to will have folks demanding to see the underlying evidence within it as well. Let it out!
Love how you guys are taking this like it's a stone tablet on Mount Sinai. Let's not forget that it's widely accepted that it's a GOP-authored WH approved cherry-picked hit piece. This could not be farther from a bipartisan document designed to shed light on something. For once, Hoosier is right. This is just the beginning. The FBI and DOJ are backed into a corner by such a thing, they may come out swinging.
Thought will not get that out of Nunes The White House statue will not give Nunes permission to publish that. Thatvwould totally destroy the Nunes BS memo.
Libs are using garden hoses on a forest fire here hoping they can put it out, the jig is up and this is just going to be the tip of the iceberg
And we have the D.Director telling us the warrant wouldn't have been existed without the dossier. If you want to insult people by calling them "chumps" for recognizing that then go right ahead. We all fully expected this event to bring out the DU trolls.
Now you are getting closer. But I am not saying that there would be no harm, no foul in that situation because I fully expect the evidence to show that the FBI did have substantiation for the portions of the dossier that they did use - i.e. in relation to Carter Page - in the FISA warrant.
