It seems the Washington Post has been caught trying to formulate a hit piece on Christopher Rufo.
WaPo Fact-Cheker Has to Cancel Hit Piece on Christopher Rufo

    John Sexton, HotAir

"I really don’t dislike Glenn Kessler’s work most of the time. He’s certainly head-and-shoulders above some of the other fact-checkers out there and not averse to taking on Democrats as well as Republicans. But in this case he seems to have taken some advice from Wile E Coyote. . . . "

Over the years, I've read enough of Kessler's "fact checks" to know where he stands, and with him, facts are incidental to the narrative. I guess this time he went overboard.

Disagree. I. saw Mr. Rufo interview some parents who are upset at what their children are taught in school. Mr. Rufo did not create this controversy, he reported on it

I am open to credible evidence from credible sources. I was initially skeptical or CRT but as I read more I became a convert. CRT vs K-12 is not without problems but it looks to be a good first step towards a mind set of US as opposed to US VS THEM. Isn't that where we want to be?

MLK aimed to unite us. CRT aims to divide us. That's why the early critics of CRT were close collaborators of MLK and those who followed them. I hold to the American vision of a colorblind society.

Colorblind obviously is not working. You want to stay with a failed model because?

Time and sustained effort are required. It took about two and a half centuries (and a massive war) to end slavery. We're a little more than a century and a half on from that. We stay the course because no other course will get us to where we need to go. Chief Justice Roberts put it well: “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.”

I'm glad that you admitted that you reject the colorblind model. That's true of the modern CRT crowd; the seem to reject much of the original civil rights movement and it's goals. The problem is, many people on the right don't realize how total the rejection on the left is, so it's helpful when someone on the left like yourself demonstrates clearly your rejection of the old time civil rights consensus.

Gotta love conservative one liners. A line from a song in South Pacific comes to mind, "they've got to be carefully taught". And this from the '50s. Repeatedly trying the same thing and looking for a different result is the definition of Republicanism.

You need to do one of two things. Either back that up with something substantive and credible or just stand there and look stupid.

They obviously have not had the desired effect, thus CRT emergence from CLS. To argue CRT one first needs to understand CLS, when it was developed and why it was developed. Either that or just sit in the corner and be quiet.

After awhile you just get tired of seeing, whatever you want to call them, espouse vast and grandiose ventures with half vast ideas!

This has nothing to do with any political party, and you do your argument no good by hiding behind such an obvious straw man. We have made great progress toward colorblindness but no one would claim the work is done. CRT is not a continuation of that centuries-long effort; it is rather its betrayal.
No, Critical Race Theory Isn’t a New Civil Rights Movement. (Just the Opposite)

I'm a long time New Yorker subscriber. Their editorial stance is decidedly left, but their reporting is sound. Their cartoons are outstanding.

Or...and hear me out here...I could just quote you and let you explain what you meant if you think my comment in post #886 is off track.

    Thoughts?

So you oppose the concept of a color blind society?

In order to achieve King's utopian vision of a color blind society we must first reckon with the origins of the systemic racism that still pervades our country.
Kessler's attempt to set the record straight is not required to understand Rufo is a second rate provocateur who drew the attention of a Faux media hack, which in turn drew the attention of the former occupant of the Oval Office who consumed his hackery with regularity, which in turn lead to this bit of since repealed idiocy.

In all likelihood not as much as fans of Rufo and Chris himself.

Absolutely not! Legislation hasn't worked. In this as in most everything education is key. CRT can prove to be an invaluable tool.

People use King's lofty rhetoric to suggest his principle goal of racial equality is somehow subverted by those seeking to force America to face its racist past and present. I call bullshit whether some of his disciples disagree or not.
