So let me try to comprehend this. The gods themselves where the actual elements and physical things of the universe and yet the Greeks and Romans made images of the gods. Were these images perhaps just to invoke the thought of the god when praying for blessings from the elements? One example of this is how Catholics have statues of the Virgin Mary. One Catholic told me that they do not believe the statue in itself has magical properties but that it directs their attention to the Virgin Mary (and other saints) as they invoke them to ask for blessings.
I just don't lay down for the tone you and other atheists exert as you would wish. I do not appreciate being told a worship a flying unicorn fairy god or make believe hateful god, or many of the insults that have been hurled at believers on this site. I do discuss spiritual maters with unbelievers in a civil tone when appropriate. I do know some Christians take insults laying down and maybe they are right and I am wrong....some believe Jesus is the Lamb of God but I will also remind them He is the Lion of Judah! In fairness to you dairyair....I probably should just start blocking the vile atheists on this forum. They do often bring out some un Christlike responses from me and they are a waste of time. Other Christians have probably done that so you don't hear much from a lot of them.
G-d the Ancient of Days the Father is the most off the scale emotional Father figure type........ who is first and foremost an engineer who choreographed an essentially infinite number of Big Bang type events.... The Cyclic Model of the Universe. http://www.politicalforum.com/index...onal-being-in-the-universe-multiverse.368603/ Could God the Father be the most emotional being in the universe/ multiverse? G-d the Mother the Holy Spirit..... can appear in lots of forms...... often faceless... because G-d the Holy Spirit... is also your most ancient over - soul type........ is actually..... except infinitely older...... http://www.politicalforum.com/index...reason-is-he-onto-something-important.401732/ The Man on the Throne by Christian Andreason.... is he onto something important? ..... Messiah Yeshua - Jesus was once human... and was tempted in all points as we are so.... he probably had Mary Magdalene as his wife...... and they may have had at least one if not two children......... Mary Magdalene is sort of a co-Messiah figure along with her husband.......
like a plate of spaghetti.... I love spaghetti, most do, we were created that way seriously, I think we are all part of a collective consciousness.. thus that would make us God
Many Christians I've met assert that they do not see God as the 'man in the sky' but I'm going to call out their BS with scripture. There is of course the part about God creating man "in our image" referring to the trinity or to angels. Then there is the part about heaven being God's throne and the earth his footstool, which I have not gotten to yet in my re-read of the Bible. Here though is the scripture I want to quote from Exodus (I will be using my NRSV Bible): Exodus 24: 9-11 says: Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up, and they saw the God of Israel. Under his feet there was something like a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven of clearness. God did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; also they beheld God, and they ate and drank. Exodus 33: 20-23 says: But," he said "you cannot see my face; for no one shall see me and live." And the Lord continued "See, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock; and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by; then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen." I could interpret this as Jesus making his presence known to Moses, but I'm thinking this is God the Father.
The sky is a part of Creation. God the Father is not limited to that, nor is Jesus. We know three dimensions. We do pretty well at grasping that.....but beyond that, our minds cannot comprehend. Jesus made a home for a time in our three dimensional world so we could come to know Him. God the Father cannot and will not stand in the presence of Sin. It is against His nature. Likewise we cannot stand in His Holy presence. Prophecy is often explained to us in a way our "finite" minds can understand. The Bible talks of Heaven having streets of gold.... Things we make our streets of are concrete, asphalt and the like. Things that are plentiful and of little value. Does this "streets of gold" look into the future and tell us gold will be of little value compared to the wonders heaven? We surely can't take it with us when we die. To those that look deeper than three dimensional living, God has given us clues, but a lot of it....we just have to trust.

That's all very nice, but the first five books of the Bible were written by Moses. Genesis took place about 4,000 years before him, so there's a lot of "campfire stories" before Moses put it down in writing. God created mankind with brains and the entire universe including all of its laws. My interpretation is that we are expected to use them.
That Moses character was one heck of a guy. He wrote about his own death and burial and future events.
The idea is to open discussion, not debate. There can be no debate as to how God is viewed. How anyone sees God is beyond debate. It's delusional to think that your arguments are so strong that you can dissuade a theist's beliefs.
Well said. Their whole purpose is to cross their arms and pout that it's not real. It's their only purpose to be on this religion thread. It's how they get their "jollies". It's like arguing what your particular favorite color is.
No you're wrong. Yabberefugee quote: Perhaps our language has limitations, but the male pronoun is always used when speaking of generalities including both sexes. Yab is referring to people, not inanimate objects. You obviously think that nitpicking semantics equals articulate debate. It does not.
