I have a strong inclination a current poster is actually a former perma banned poster (obviously under a different name now). Is there a certain way to report them?
You could make a note in "suggestions", which is only accessible to staff, or pm one of the staff members, so that we can research the person further. I hope that answers your question. If not... "suggestions" is always open for business. Shangrila-Advisor
The other option that you could use is a method similar to that used on witches in the 17th century in Europe and the US. If you ask the person if they are a sock puppet and they say no, then they are a sock puppet. If it worked with witches, then it should surely work with sock puppets. I mean really, has anyone seen a real witch since the beginning of the 20th century?
If they ever posted something that was anti-Obama, you can report them here: Get the facts. Fight the smears. AttackWatch.com
You can PM a moderator, start a 'Suggestion Box' thread, or report one of their posts - all of these methods would be private. Give us the details of your suspicions, whichever way you do it, and we'll certainly look into it.
^ "Look into it" being the operative phrase here. We have a very thorough process for weeding out sock puppets, so don't feel like you're inconveniencing anyone by reporting a tip. If we follow up a lead on a suspected sock and it comes up blank, they'll never even know that they were investigated. OTOH, Please don't submit a sock lead unless you're at least reasonably convinced there's something to it. The more time we spend checking out false reports, the less time we have to bust the bad actors. Regards, -Slashy
