Sallyally is correct. I would also recommend scrolling to the bottom of your page and click on the "rules". It is very small and gray. I didn't see it for MONTHS after I joined. Most of the mods are cool. They usually respond to private messages too.
If you know the name of the mod that warned you can you not just send him a message using the "Start a conversation" option?
I think the mods here are like Hell's Angels. They go out of their way to LOOK scary as hell but they actually take a perverse pleasure in being nice (just kidding, but they ARE nice people, or have been that way to me)
Cute Story if true. A woman in Wales interacted with a truly enormous Hell's Angel in a bar. She was frightened just by his size at first but he was so nice to her she soon felt at her ease and found him to be one of the more interesting people she knew. She determined to write a story that would use him as a character even if only a peripheral one. Thus was born Harry Potter and Hagrid.
Hell’s Angles “get” PR. They respect the difference between “civilians” and their fellow travelers. They are not “jolly, overweight, good ‘ol boys who just like to ride motorcycles.” They are a criminal enterprise. When you flip their switch, you have a pile of trouble on your hands. The mods have a board to run, and probably endeavor to send the bomb throwers to another island.
JK Rowling famously lived in Edinburgh when writing Harry Potter so unless she happened to be on holiday in Wales I suspect it's not true. Sorry.
People who live in Edinburgh do holiday in Wales, even when they're on the dole, like Rowling was I've read 2 books on the HA, the first was Hunter Thompson's eponymous volume and the second I forget. The both made it clear that the Mafia used biker gangs as a sort of training ground for their lower levels.
