People generally show considerable derision toward President Obama (and some others) who are dependent on a teleprompter when making speakers.

And some people find a politician dependent on speechwriters to be of lesser quality than others.

What would you think about a politician who could make highly effective speeches (and debate) extemporaneously?

That is make a complete, involved speech on a subject without having the it written or even using notes. Literally thinking it up as they go along.

    Would it impress you?

Not really. Being an accomplished orator doesn't necessarily equate to being an accomplished thinker

Not really. I think that someone who researches what he/she is going to discuss in public shows that the person really took the time and interest to make sure that they were wholly informed on the subject as opposed to shooting from the hip and risk saying something that isn't true or only half true.

Either way, for me, actions speak louder then words.

Indeed. Newt is proof of that.

Neither Clinton nor Obama make extemporaneous speeches routinely.

I can understand gw bush junior using a teleprompter, he could forget his own name if wasn't carefull but obama?

This was supposed to be the crowning jewel in the american political crown. A democrat intelligent politician. So what has happened. Why can't the noble winning president, memorize his own speeches.

His Nobel Prize was a complete joke as almost everyone knows.

Obama is a novelty president elected for one reason and one reason only.

He is what millions of Americans had been dreaming of electing for generations.

    A nonthreatening black man.

To even be hand picked for the noble, requires some special quality. Obama recieved one of the highest academic awards on earth, yet in this topic (already pointed out). He continues to rely on a teleprompter.

For this to even be possible, someone has to a have a clear objective and clear principle they wish to follow in order to achieve it. It would be near impossible to politicize so many distractions as opposed to simply and eloquently stating the core subject matter. I believe if any politician much less the president spoke in this manner, it would be impressive.

The Nobel Prize is NOT an academic award.

You can be illiterate and get a Nobel Peace Prize.

President Barack Obama was nominated and won his Nobel Prize because he was the first black man elected president of the United States.

As one news magazine pointed out this was the first time a member of a formerly persecuted minority in a major world power was ever elected leader of that nation.
