I am not from the UK and I don't really know what to think on this issue, however I think that these movements are generally destabilizing and I generally don't see destabilizing movements as a good thing. I think people should just learn to live with each other instead of everyone having a country especially/exclusively built on the culture and beliefs of people that are just like them. I don't think that's empowering I think that is avoiding a problem that is all to prevalent in today's world. I also don't think that smaller and smaller countries can compete with larger ones and have equal footing in International Relations. Think people should be allowed to do what they want but I don't see how Scotland leaving the UK would really make Scottish people more free to do what they please than they are already. I also think things like this create a big political mess and other states either support movements like this or denounce them for their own selfish political reasons instead of considering what is best for the people that this effects the most, and by that I mean both the people of Scotland and the rest of the UK as well. If I have missed something essential and have thus given myself a twisted view of this situation, please inform me. I admit I am not as knowledgable as someone who is from the UK...

Scotland will have it's referendum and make a choice democratically as it should be done everywhere. I'm good with whatever they decide.

I posted this quote in the movies quote thread but that this is a suitable spot.

“(*)(*)(*)(*)in failures in a country of failures. Its nae good blamin it oan the English fir colonising us. Ah don't hate the English. They're just wankers. We are colonised by wankers. We can't even pick a decent, vibrant healthy society to be colonised by. No..we are ruled by effete ********s. What does that make us? The lowest of the low, the scum of the earth. The most wretched servile, miserable, pathetic trash that was ever shat intae creation. Ah don't hate the English. They just git oan wis the (*)(*)(*)(*)e thev got. Ah hate the Scots.”

I'm wondering what the influence will be when Scotland gets its independency. Nationalist regions like Flanders, the Basque Country, Catalonia are heavily asking for independence. I'm guessing especially Spain won't be to happy with a independent Schotland.

I am not a citizen of the UK, and think Scotland should be independent....

I personally as an American dislike the UK for at one time ruling over us, taxation without representation is what we suffered.

Scotland can do as America, and exercise the right to bare arms and form militias.

But they need majority support, America had majority support as the Loyalists were a minority and were considered traitors to the union.

If Scotland has more Loyalists to the queen , then they have already lost as it takes a United country to defeat that old Empire.

What a waste of time and money all this independent talk is. It is all but a small minority in Scotland actually want independent and much of them seem to have fallen from the same mind games that Hitler played in Germany. England is not the enemy and never will be again. The money from oil won't last.

    Most scots don't
Then you got independence and kept slaves for almost a century.

Bare arms? Lols you mean roll up their sleeves? We have no right to form militias or hold firearms in the UK.

And they won;t get it because most scots don;t want independence

And there is you answer. More Scots want to stay with the UK.

So full of ones own diatribe and conceit one does get lost.

But when is it necessary for truth to the like of your good self!

    But I can help!
And some know so little! But you were privately taught! Brings out the tory in you, well they normally are into each other!

    http://www.lonach.org/

Obviously some care about traditions, you care about morris dancing if you want and taking your pieces of silver!
Oooh ... and your queen, cannot call herself the queen of Scotland as she is a usurper! She and her Nazi supporters have no right even to be in England living the parasitic life on the backs of the English nation.

All this case for Scottish Independence can be traced back minimum to Act of Union (1707) and the events that lead up to this.
eg, economical crisis, Jacobites and etc.

Scotland eventual signed over their chance for Independence to avoid invasion from England and also for political and economical reasons.

This can be seen and interpreted by the Scottish people as betrayal and selling out for the wrong reasons.

So, I am from Zealand and do I support Scottish Independence?

    Yes

I wish Scotland the best of luck.

With all due respect to your views ...... if a nation has it's peoples murdered maimed and killed, it cannot be considered "signing over" their sovereignty.

The historical facts are interpreted and supported by the victor, doesn't mean they are truthful reconstruction or consideration of the facts.

You only need look at the "Planned Famine" in Ireland, and the genocide against 6 million people of the 11 million Irish nation to understand the bias in "factually correct" information.
