Viktor Orban's Hungary declares it will no longer certify gender studies courses.

The decision places Hungary radically at odds with the rest of the Western world, every other EU state has at least one functioning gender studies program, and in the US, the number has risen threefold in the last three decades.

"Gender studies—similarly to Marxism-Leninism—can be called an ideology rather than a science, and therefore it is doubtful that it attains the scientific level expected for a university degree course."
".. This study does not help in raising our nation; moreover it destroys value-oriented thinking that is still present in the Central European countries. Our burning problem is the demographic issue, which will not be solved by studying sexual minorities and deepening feminist philosophy... "

I agree with the move, i believe gender studies its not even an pseudoscience, its an ideology. I cant see how studying Gender Dimensions of Post-State Socialism, Feminist Knowledge Production or Gendering Theory can be productive for a society or why it is a 3-4 year diploma instead of a semester course at best, at psychology universities(or psychiatry.. )

I had to take a class like that when I was in college - Yikes! You waste your time listening ultra-left instructor who blames every little thing that went wrong in her life on men and on Bush in particular (he was the POTUS at the time). We read books written by feminists and discussed them in class.

That class was the turning point in my political views - after going through that ridiculous class I started to think that conservatives aren’t that unreasonable. My views started to turn right after being in ultra-left side. That’s how ridiculous that class was.
