Okay Boardies. Consider the forecast on the date I wrote the above and Dorian's current course along the Atlantic coast. Not taking the Gulf route across Florida nor traversing the longitudinal axis of Florida as promised. Vote for New Jersey , New Your City landfall and flooded streets of Manhattan where the rich people live. YOUR vote counts! Look at what has been accomplished so far.
https://radio.garden/listen/-1540-the-national-voice/FakihO8I Radio coming out of the Bahamas. Dorian is now a 180MPH Cat 5. Gusts to 200MPH. Storm surge at 20 feet. Movement due west at 7MPH. To all the Floridians that started taking down their shutters and ate all their hurricane food: You idiots ****ing deserve the Darwin Award.
Holy shat. Are you certain that Floridians were un-preparing with a Cat 4-5 out there? The track on the TV is only a bumbling and educated guess, not a reality.
Yep. work at Publix. Last night, with a 150MPH Cat 4 making a beeline at florida, not a single person just becuase of the track. lol "A person is smart, people are dumb panicky animals and you know it."
FYI - my husband is a well respected member of the hurricane community. If you want no nonsense facts, he has a Youtube site, and posts on Twitter throughout the day. This is not a self-promotion for money situation; it's just a service he provides for friends, really. This is such a unique storm; record breaking pressure & wind.... thought I'd share this with a larger audience.
The forecast has been all over the place. Now it looks like it will indeed turn, but even it it does, it will be only 20 miles off the FL coast.
Abaco Island, Bahamas - currently in the eye https://twitter.com/JohnMoralesNBC6/status/1168231272319242245
The entire hurricane community is baffled .... it's not behaving like any previous storm. They don't know; anyone claiming to know what's going to happen is not someone to take seriously.
I live in Boca Raton and we're right on the demarcation line that separates the hurricane from a tropical storm. A slight shift and boy we're in trouble. There was a few gusts of wind blowing the palm trees earlier, and the rain came down full force about 20 minutes ago - now the sun is shining. I don't think it's going to last. Anyway this is the way I see Dorian's indecisiveness on where to go. It has to do with the battle between the witches spells to hit Mar-a-lago, and the prayers that Dorian will spare us. I hope the prayers win.
What do you mean? Hurricanes always behave the same way, and are influenced by the same basic things. The "community" has consensus and all models predict the same thing (that it is turning North). The hurricanes behavior is explained by the high pressure system in the north
I saw a twitter from a woman in the Bahamas and she was in the midst of the storm and begging people to pray for her. I was crying just listening to her. Those poor people. I tried to find it so I could post it, but I couldn't. I guess asking people to pray is not politically correct.
The problem is; when will it turn north? Also it is a slow moving hurricane, so no one knows if the systems determining its course will change.
You're thinking of California. Florida is beautiful Nov, Dec, Jan, Fed, March. The other months the heat is tortuous. But look, it's not as bad as Houston, and then again NYC is nothing but filthy snow and mud during the months everyone comes to Florida. I shouldn't condemn the New York climate. In August it might be a rain forest and have trees growing on the Brooklyn bridge, but It's beautiful in May and October. That's about it!
Looks like it's finally making that turn. Good news - it's not gonna plow right into our friends in central or south Florida. Bad news - looks like's it's gonna grind up the Southeast coast and wreak a lot of damage. It's still supposed to be a Cat 2 when it reaches us in Virginia on Thursday. I'll be ready - we need the rain...
Last time the finger of island our house was on split and the house fell into the Atlantic. This is heartbreaking.
