I think republicans are nuts. But I'm glad they exist.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I was compelled to reason to myself why I should feel gratitude toward republicans. I disagree with them on almost everything in terms of policy, and even when we agree on policy (like say gun control) I find their arguments and motivations to be downright disturbing.

Nevertheless, I'm glad they exist. And why?

Because there always has to be an opposition party.

Now, some people could argue that republicans don't really do this, much like people argue that in regard to the democrats, that they're really just one party that pretends to oppose itself on various issues so that whatever an issue is you've got a reason to vote for and against someone and feel like you're participating in a democracy when you're really just voting for the same thing no matter what.

But the truth is that whenever the government wants to do something, somebody should make the best case possible for why the government shouldn't do it, and only when all of the best arguments have been made should decisions follow. And that's sort of what republicans do, at this point -- they obstruct the government from doing anything, useful or otherwise, at least when the government is trying to help non-rich people. The republicans are much harder to find when the government wants to start a war to protect the interests of rich people, and maybe their arguments are sort of ... incomplete ... but nobody's perfect (especially republicans).

What I'm trying to say is, Happy Thanksgiving. I'm grateful for all of you.

They're grateful for you too. Obama thanks you for the support. Jeffrey Immelt would like to shake your hand. Jamie Dimon could just give you a kiss. Warren Buffett has baked you a holiday cake. Al Gore wants to take you for a ride in his private carbon-free jet.

I would say im grateful for the left, but that would be like celebrating after the doctor tells you you have an incurable disease.

Honestly, our constution isnt compatible for the left. You can have socialist states here and there, but other than that you guys are gay.

I appreciate the gratitude, and kind words.

I can't honestly return the thought however, and in fact if you are a Democrat may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits.

Barbara Streisand might even give him a blow job - if he's up for it.

    Mike's gonna get one

I'm not saying that it would be ok with me but I might turn a blind eye to Barbara gaining our family some political leverage.

Republicans would try and impeach him if that happened.
Oh...and I still genuinely hate Republicans.......I'm certainly not grateful for them.

Even if they're only right twice a day, like a stopped clock, that's still twice. And when it comes to things the government shouldn't do, they're probably right more often than that.

    Still somewhat randomly, though.

Statistically, when you pretty much say the government shouldn't do anything, you're bound to agree with someone on an issue sometime.

Since when did Democrats celebrate thanksgiving? lol

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you consider it's democrats who protest American flags being hung at establishments but champion foreign flags being hung in their place.

Or Democrats crying about the national anthem being sang at football events. Even if the "God" part is left out.

    Yeah. You're not fooling anybody.

the constitution is not compatible with the nanny state right that want to control who consenting adults love, when they have children, what religion they believe, ect, republicans do no want a free country, they want a country run by a dictator, just ask Bush

republicans spit on the founders by changing the national anthem to exclude many Americans, no reason to add under god to the national anthem other then to be divisive

The democrats have the poor on the dole and now are trying to get the middle class on it. "Tax, tax, spend, spend, elect, elect" ~ FDR. Democrats are using the same old playbook.

Firearms. Since when did a constitutional argument become disturbing to you?

In the words of the immortal Rhett Butler (played by the equally immortal, dashing, and smoulderingly sexy Clark Gable)...

"Quite frankly my dear, I don't give a dam."
