Ok. So let's see what you believe Trump will do instead.

Well... you could just as well have said that CAM countries discover they are sitting in the biggest gold mine on the planet.

A "wish list" is not going to solve the problem. Tell us HOW!

All you have said so far is that you will undo Biden's policy that is NOW turning away more immigrants than had ever turned away before in history. So what will Trump do instead after he "buries" that?

That solves NOTHING. The percentage of criminals who are illegal aliens is tiny compared to that in the general population.

That makes no sense. I doubt there is a SINGLE illegal immigrant that would refrain coming to this country because talks of a pathway to citizenship stop.

They don't come here for that. They come in a desperate attempt to save their children who are DYING.. "Oh no... let's not escape from the drug lords to the U.S. because there is not pathway to citizenship!". That's completely out of touch from reality.

I'm sorry but the gist I'm getting is that you're not proposing anything even remotely realistic. I know that you're not familiar with the situation in our country but... I was hoping for REAL solutions.

Sanctuary cities don't "harbor" illegal aliens. They simply don't participate in operations that are the job of immigration agents, and not local police.

If you can come up with some law that state officials are breaking, please quote the law and show how they break it. This one was a fail despite the fact that you didn't even quote the law.

But it looks to me like you're struggling to find... SOME way to solve illegal immigration. And I'm sure Trump will ATTEMPT (somehow) to do what you describe. But it will FAIL because everything you mention is either physically impossible, has no legal grounding, or is outright unconstitutional.... Just like the OP predicted.

again, as usual you mischaracterize my post. and you appear to want illegal immigration to continue, which is something many other democrats support. You do understand that the mayor of denver conceded he might well go to jail by opposing the new border czar.

I agree one falls asleep......but then they are hurled into eternity where justice is administered. Only fools think it is over.

Enforce the border like every other country. Allow those in only that are beneficial and not a drag on the Nation. Just like are laws that you claim are broken only because they haven't been enforced.

Pathways to illegals/dreamers only incentivizes others to dream of illegally invading our border the next time we have a Democrat Administration. Personally, I think if they did a four year stint in the military......then we could consider citizenship.

Trump did not get even half the people's votes, he did not get a super majority in the House or Senate

what the people want is both sides to work together as they gave neither party the power to go it alone

That's not exactly true. Here in Albuquerque, we had a system where every criminal that was booked, was then sent down the hall to ICE for determining legal status for being in the US. The current mayor came in and removed ICE from the building and eliminated that screening. They purposely prevented ICE from detaining criminal aliens.

He'll do the same as last time. ICE will round up known illegals, registered in their system, almost exclusively employed and start sending them packing. After a lot of bad press of families broken, crops lost and food prices up the program will return to " normal" after a great deal of human suffering.

Catsup or BBQ sauce? ICE was so stupid last time I don't doubt a grandmother of eight who is an illegal and her American husband dead will get caught up in the net. Active criminals are much harder to find and deport and they want a show quickly.
Few seem to realize that the reason cities and states made rules about releasing without holding for ICE because ICE was telling them to hold, at their own expense, released prisoners for a month or more. Cities and states said pay or we just release.

By far and away the best thing to do is make an exit to Mexico with a voluntary control provided. Then make an entry where short term, say 11 months, visas are issued. Thumb print and picture on a work ID valid 10 years in and out faster than a drivers license. Afterwards, if the person leaves voluntarily on time, their ID checked against criminal DB, and if no crimes with proof of employment exit without delay and renew visa for next year on the spot if asked. After a year or two remove the leave without control option.
With this you have control over criminals but allow workers in easily. Building a wall does neither. This would also encourage employers to hire only those with legal IDs as it would cut down the risks to them of having an entire workforce lost at harvesting.
Of course racists will object but I don't much care about them and nor should anyone else.

I’m one who states Trump didn’t receive a mandate. His 1.6-point win in the popular vote was the third closest election since 1900 with only 1960 and 2000 being closer. The republicans also lost 2 house seats in the only other nationwide election. Numbers that shout, no mandate. However, I get what you’re saying. I’d put the mandate on two issues. 1. Inflation, rising prices, 2. Immigration. He was elected to fix these two problems, not to go off on many other tangents like doing away with the department of education, changing healthcare, taking political revenge on his opponent or those who opposed him, etc.

Personally, I think Trump will ignore those two mandated issues and concentrate on other things such as gaining revenge. He’s one vindictive person. I’ll predict that Trump’s overall job performance once he begins governing will be by the end of February be below Biden’s 41% approval. Like in Trump’s first term where he didn’t get a honeymoon, this time he may have a month instead of the first 100 days. He’ll have to concentrate, tackle immigration, inflation, rising prices and forget everything else or he’ll fall in approval like a lead brick. We’ll see, time will tell.

    I see two solutions:
    1. he will make lives of illegal immigrants much harder, by forcing sanctuary cities to give up the sanctuary status, increase deportation not to immigrant original country, but to a country from which he/she/they come to US, fining businesses which employ illegals and much more. It will discourage majority of immigrants to come.

    2. by increasing the national debt, custom wars with friendly countries and empty threat he will cause the collapse of dollar as international currency, which will cause serious recession that only illegal will try to leave the US, but also American will try illegally to get into Canada, Europe and maybe even to Mexico.

She lied a lot, like when she said she didn't want to ban fracking and how she's a 2A supporter.

She had far more than one failing.

Wrong on both accounts. But not understanding what so-called "sanctuary cities" is not going to solve the problem. I DO want people's right to asylum respected. But if they don't qualify, they should not be allowed in this country.

Biden proposed a solution. Following Trump's orders, Republicans voted it DOWN... and they made no secret of the fact that the reason was because it would work! So YOU are the one supporting the party that doesn't want the problem solved.

Wrong! Democrats support the people's right to asylum. Because it's a human right. The Republicans that YOU helped put in power DO support illegal immigration. And the reason is that, if the problem is solved, they would have nothing to run on.

And all of this is proven by the fact that YOU can't come up with anything that will help solve it. Death sentence to any illegal immigrant who commits murder, a wall that will never get built, torturing children.... those are things that will NOT! But that's the best Republicans can come up with. No REAL paths to solving the problem once and for all.

I am an atheist. Put them in prison for life, just in case you're wrong! And THEN (if you're right), they cand do that... "eternity" thingy you mention.

Yes!!! Exactly what Biden's border bill would have done! And it's not just Biden who said it. REPUBLICANS who voted against it said that's what it would do!

You just gave me EXACTLY the answer this thread was intended to dig out from MAGAs.

From my perspective there was never a reason to stop calling him a xenophobic racist. Cuz of............you know.........his xenophobic racism. Regardless, the data on the trump admin's record regarding criminal immigrants may surprise you.

New Data on Trump’s Border Security Record: Releasing Criminals to Jail Asylum Seekers

Donald Trump has portrayed his immigration policies as good for public safety. He said this month that he had the “safest” immigration policy in history. However, data obtained by the Cato Institute through the Freedom of Information Act challenges this narrative. The newly uncovered information shows that while the Trump administration (2017–2020) was prioritizing prosecutions of migrant parents, separating families, and banning asylum, it also released criminals, including those who went on to commit crimes.
    https://www.cato.org/blog/trump-released-criminals-so-he-could-jail-asylum-seekers

He may also encounter problems with carrying out his agenda.

Many targeted for removal by Trump can’t be deported, ICE data shows

Nearly half of the 1.4 million people in the U.S. immigration system who have pending deportation orders cannot be sent back to their home countries, according to internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement data, posing one of several looming obstacles to President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge for a mass removal campaign.

Some orders can’t be carried out because the would-be deportee’s home country won’t take them or limits cooperation with ICE. Others identified for deportation are serving prison terms, or have received a reprieve or deferral from an immigration judge, due to a medical condition, a credible persecution threat or another extenuating factor.
An array of other logistical and legal impediments also could constrain mass deportations, according to current and former ICE officials.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2024/12/06/mass-deportation-obstacles-trump-migrants/

As always, I encourage folks to do some research of their own before coming to conclusions on as complex an issue as immigration.

Polls say voters back “mass deportation.” That’s misleading.
Americans’ opinions on immigration are more complicated than any one question can capture.

This spring, an eye-opening poll from Axios suggested what once seemed unthinkable: Four in 10 Democrats were open to the idea of the US government deporting undocumented immigrants en masse. Though that share of support might seem high, other polls conducted since have found something similar, suggesting Americans at large are open to harsher, more Trumpian immigration policies.
And yet, as attention-grabbing as some of the headlines on support for mass deportations have been (and as former President Donald Trump and his allies continue to talk about his plans for such), those polls may not accurately capture the mood of the American electorate. Support for a policy of mass deportation, while superficially high, rests on two related complications: substantial confusion among voters about what it might actually entail, as well as a generalized desire to do something — anything — on immigration, which polls frequently report to be among Americans’ top issues.

That disconnect is because standalone polls and headlines do very little to capture the complexity of many Americans’ feelings about immigration, which often include simultaneous, and apparently contradictory, support for more immigrant-friendly policies alongside draconian ones. The real answer, more specific polling by firms like Pew Research Center suggests, lies somewhere in the middle: A good share of voters, it seems, are fine with increasing deportations. Some might even want the kind of operation Trump is floating. But many also want exceptions and protections for specific groups of immigrants who have been living in the US for a while, or have other ties to the country.

The poster said local officials "break federal law". How does any of that break the law and what law are they breaking?

I agree that Trump will likely ignore his mandate to fix immigration. And the fact that not even MAGAs in this forum can say HOW he will fix immigration in any way that is different from Biden's Border Bill. But it IS the mandate. Because it was the SINGLE issue that I find common in all his voters (as far as I can see). And if he doesn't follow through, this presidency will be even a bigger failure than his previous one. He would need to find some excuse: mishandling a pandemic, a war, ... something.... to feed his cult-followers as a talking point to explain why he didn't fulfill his mandate. Just like he did last time.
