eventually discourages people from going to nightclubs, movie theaters, malls, sporting events, etc. and begins to cut into profits in a significant way. Anybody else see that happening? What happens when the merchants start whining?

Don't you mean terrorism because guns don't stop them now.

I'm talking about all gun violence. There's been enough non-terrorism mass murder in this country to make you think before you leave home.

Well then, just stay out of the hood and you will be OK. You don't go to hood do you?

IMHO a more appropriate question is

    I foresee a country where TERRORISM . . .

eventually discourages people from going to nightclubs, movie theaters, malls, sporting events, etc. and begins to cut into profits in a significant way. Anybody else see that happening? What happens when the merchants start whining?

Violent crime in the US fell steadily since the historical peak 1993 - down 55% across the board.
Nightclubs, movie theaters, malls, sporting events, etc all did just fine back then.
    So.... No.

Which country? Can't be the U.S. as we have lower levels of violent crime today than we did 25 years ago.....

Not by a long shot. Assuming you don't live
In the hood, the odds of getting shot and killed is very slim. And by a terrorist....it's in the same arena as dying in a car crash, or by lightning or slipping on pavement and breaking your neck.

Sorry but I'm not thinking I might die on my
Way to work. If I do, it'll probably be by an illegal with no license though. Lots
    Of em in south FL.

Stop listening to what the media is saying and look at reality. The world is not that scary, and you are way more likely to slip in the tub and die than you are to be involved in a mass shooting. Don't let irrational fears run your life. We all die eventually, and it is better to enjoy your time than to live your life in crippling fear of the most unlikely forms of death.

I'd suggest you face this fear head on. Go get a nice semi-automatic rifle, take some safety courses, go target shooting. You'll see why people like the activity so much. Also you'll put yourself at high risk by driving everywhere, so I'd suggest getting a motorcycle to face that fear while you are at it.

We need a secured border and our civilian populations cleared of those that advocate Islamic Jihad.

Weapons arrests made in NYC. Holland Tunnel at center of incident. Drugs and weapons found in SUV. No word if suspects are Lutherans.

these places already exist. they are called major metropolitan areas, otherwise known as inner-city hell holes, and they are usually controlled by gun grabbing liberals like yourself. with some of the most restrictive gun regulations in the country, these are the places we go to remind ourselves that banning something doesn't make it go away and that more laws do not make us better people.

I also find the worries exaggerated. After all, businesses keep operating in Kabul, Afghanistan, and the level of violence in this country is (not yet) as high as there, Even though the murder rate in the United States is several times as high as that of any other industrialized country, thanks to the failed idea that the answer to gun violence is more guns, people continue to go out in the streets. Of course, they sometimes return home in a box.

Perhaps My Fing ID's idea is the right one. If we all buy semi-automatic rifles and go around shooting each other, there won't be enough of us left to cause a problem. Then a more pacific culture can settle the country, and the problem will be resolved.

Own your own societal violence. Thre is no noticeable effect on attendances at the places listed. Europeans are obviously made of sterner stuff.

Yeah that's why you have an EU parliament that can't create, modify, or suggest legislation to the EU. Hey at least they're "elected". Who's the leader of the EU government again?

Hopefully you are sterner, seeing as how you've given all your rights away.

By gun violence do you mean the kind where the gun is attached to a rabid muslim? or the kind where the gun somehow gets keys to a car, drives itself to the nightclubs (somehow without hands), gets out, walks into the front door (somehow without feet) and begins killing all the gays it hates? (somehow without the capability to think)

You mean like when the soldier was getting his head cut off in the street and all the men ran, and the cops showed up and decided to perform crowd control? Didn't it take an elderly woman to get off a bus and put a stop to it? That's stern stuff alright, at least the elderly european women anyways. The men....not so much.

Look it's already happening and it doesn't even have to involve guns. MUSLIM VIOLENCE is on the rise and it will cause the people to stay home to avoid the risks.

Here's another example of MUSLIM VIOLENCE where a girl simply asked for a cigarette and the group of self proclaimed ISIS thugs beat up the girl and her boyfriend. This happened just the other day in Phiadelphia at the famous GINO's cheese steak restaurant. no guns, no weapons, just MUSLIM VIOLENCE.

Funny thing is that according to the FBI all criminal acts are down and have steadily been dropping since the 90s.

We just had the largest mass shooting in American history one week ago.

    - - - Updated - - -

The Pulse nightclub wasn't in the hood. Neither was the theater shooting with the red-headed freak. Neither was Columbine.

This does not change the fact that gun-related crime has fallen 55% since 1993.
Were you afraid to leave your house in 1993?
