I have never been afraid of republicans before. I have always viewed them as the loyal opposition.

Of course, that was before espousing the death of legislators was a prequel for election to congress. Naturally, I thought that one of two things would then happen, The first is that she immediately resign. Didn't hold out much hope for that, so on to number two, that she be immediately expelled. Did either of these things happen? Nope. One has to ask why not? What has happened to the once proud republican party, the champions of law and order, the constitution literalists.

That question has been asked multiple times on here, but all you will get is more hyperbolic rhetoric seeded with batshit crazy Q crap.

If they fell for Dirty Donalds constant stream of lies and bullshit is it any wonder that they are taken in by QAnon and similar conspiracy crackpot theories. Didn't they also sign on to Alex Jones and his screwball theories which he spouted as facts, just as Dirty Don did.

What percent of Republicans did this? And as a result, you are afraid of Republicans?

You about as likely to be struck by an wayward asteroid as to be killed by a republican. .

LOL! What a load! The RP has always stunk on ice and everyone knows it. Especially those who pretend they don't. ;-)

OTOH, Ordinary American Republicans and Democrats are not a threat to anyone.

I am not afraid of them; but I have gone from understanding, to mistrusting and now view them as enemies of the state and a detriment to the future of our Democracy (no one here of course as all the cons here are lovely people). Not the main stream ones, or centrist ones — but it seems more and more are far right extremists.

If the republic can't handle a few hundred nuts, we are really in trouble.

What are ordinary republicans? The 70+ million who voted for Trump, who are convinced, in the face of overwhelming evidence, that the election was somehow rigged to insure a Biden victory, the thousands who assaulted our capitol, vandalized it leaving 4 dead in their wake? Those ordinary republicans?

I don't know, seems there are a few crazies on both sides. Weren't some leftist politicians calling for hostilities to the other side not long ago? "Getting in their faces, confronting them in restaurants, giving them no peace, etc", and some leftists talking of blowing up the Whitehouse, or assassinations? Weren't some actually applauding the rioting and looting, "you can't get change without breaking some eggs"?

For me, I am not afraid of those I speak of above; but I have gone from understanding, to mistrusting and now view them as enemies of the state and a detriment to the future of our Republic (no one here of course as all the progs here are lovely people). Not the main stream ones, or centrist ones — but it seems more and more are far left extremists.

Sure, but who are the centrists, the main stream ones. There seem to be a mere dozen or so in congress and the rest really far out there Trumpers.

Fox News was the primary catalyst. Then Bush assembled all the block heads into a voting block.
They Obie was elected, a freakin' black man! This was what pushed everything past fail safe.

Along comes teh world's great con man and BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The USA now teeters on teh edge of extinction.

Correct. They are not a threat to you. Ditto all the ordinary American Democrats who believed that Russia rigged the 2016 election.

The individuals who actually committed violent acts in the capitol might have been a threat to you if you had been confronted by them.
IOW, you actually have nothing to fear from ordinary American citizens.

Fear in teh sense that they could cost us our country by going down the crazy hole. Certainly they have proved to be cowards on the "battlefield."

That is NOT equivalent. And it was not a "capitol riot", it was an armed insurrection, the first violation of our capitol since the war of 1812, and by our own people!

That one man could make up something like this and sell it to 70 million just goes to show how fragile the human is.
If this does not scared the hell out of us, something is wrong with us.
