Most of us on the right desire a weak, constrained Fed.gov that stays out of our business and leaves us alone. Most leftists, on the other hand, are all about a strong central government that dictates (see what I did there?) virtually every part of our lives.

So why should we judge anyone on past actions? Payed off a couple of porn stars to keep them quiet about affairs? Doesn't matter. Defrauded a bunch of university students? Doesn't matter. Many of us learned the lessons the Democratic Party taught their voters:

Yes, the president is an immoral person lacking character who lies under oath and cheats on his wife. But the character of the president doesn't matter, as Bill Clinton taught us.

Yes, the president consistently lies and uses government power to punish his enemies and reward his friends. But honesty and integrity doesn't matter, as Barak Obama taught us.

Democrats made it easy for us to tell ourselves it's OK to overlook the many character flaws a president might have as long as he is working to oppose the other other party and implement the changes we'd like to see after an eight year nightmare by the previous administration.
