Note, everything here would also apply to Donald Trump if he should happen to become president again. I hate Joe Biden and have for decades. I hate almost everything about him. Yet there is always a chance he could become regarded as a highly effective president. How? Simple, if the North Koreans go around the bend and attack South Korea and President Biden takes the shackles off the U.S. military and allows them to crush the North Koreans I would support that and I think whoever is POTUS would be highly regarded for that. What say you?
Any major North Korean attack on South Korea would kill scores of Americans both military and civilian on the first day though.
I think a more important question is would North Korea launch a full-scale attack against the South in the near future? I doubt it, since Kim's attention seeking tactics so far have been reasonably effective.
there would be many choices. buden's foreign policy team has got a pretty good policy in ukraine, did well in afghanastan, and probably would do ok in your scenario. trump, of course, was always a better partner for putin, kim, and the taliban than for our actual allies.
There are thousands of American troops stationed in South Korea and 100,000 American civilians live in the Seoul area. Quite a different situation than in Ukraine.
We did crush the North Koreans during the Korean War. Practically wiped out their military. It was China that came in and fought the U.S. and other allied nations to a draw. But Truman was reluctant to go all out against China because he was afraid the Soviet Union would move against U.S. allies in Europe if we did.
Semantics. Point is, ultimately the Korean War was a draw. You don’t think China would get involved again?
Not really. The Chinese simply consider the North Koreans a handy tool to wield against South Korea and the U.S.
it is highly unlikely that we could have beaten the chinese and the winter at chosin without nuclear weapons. then , as now, our allies (and reasonable americans) would have vetoed that option Battle of Chosin Reservoir - Wikipedia
First off, that's quite a switch there: from your loathing Joe Biden, to what should we do if North Korea attacks the South. Don't we have an actual defense agreement, with South Korea? I think, if the North attacked the South, we would immediately be involved, with our troops at the DMZ. If fact, N. Korea couldn't launch an invasion, without running into American troops. The thing is, N. Korea doesn't need to send troops, because a huge part of the S. Korean population lives in Seoul, like 20 million of them, and N. Korea's artillery, can reach Seoul, from North Korea. I presume that means we'd be bombing & missle-ing the hell out of their artillery positions. But if they were somehow such hardened targets, that we couldn't take them out from the air, we would obviously launch a ground assault. But I don't foresee Kim's attacking the South, so all of this discussion, really, is moot.
Joe Biden does the bidding of satan. If the pope had any integrity he would excommunicate that corrupt politician. Most Catholics I talk to wish Trump was pope and president.
