I was watching attack of the clones last night...the movie comes to the part when anakin's mother dies...so i start to cry because i miss my mother too..i have this hunter knife that i use to scratch my back..i place it in my neck and say. "If anyone out there wants to stop me from stabbing my self in the neck, please show up now"...nothing happened...i continued crying with the knife to my neck just thinking what would happen...suddenly, my calculator watch that was on the other couch, 4 feet away from me flew into the air and fell into the handrest on my loveseat...I didnt know what to think, I stood there with my eyes wide shut...then I knew someone had made contact and wanted to let me know that i still have time..

I'm glad you didn't follow through with it. Can I suggest you seek counseling?

Glad to hear you didn't do it too.

Suicide isn't the answer. Talking about it with loved ones is a good way to start.

    Salam :)

Jedi, no offense brother, you know I love you, but what you are thinking now is not good.

It is time for help. There are any number of professionals, and indeed clergy, who are trained and compassionate, but something is wrong if you are moved to this point. Please get help brother. There is nothing wrong with you, but something is wrong if you are thinking about killing yourself.

Our prayers are with you brother.

To the previous two atheists, the subject is not about you.

the next atheist that tells me that compassion is part of atheism will be sent to this thread.

If you are serious, seek help.

    EDIT:

Neither is this subject about atheism.

At least they had the decency to stay on topic.

No, they did not. They insisted on criticizing the aspect of his faith - which saved his life. But that was a threat to their atheism, and could not suffice with a, "I hope you are OK, and I hope you seek help." or anything compassionate.

I somehow doubt if the situation were reversed, if a person reasoned his way out of it, you would be quite so smug if the response was, "Well, clearly God helped you."

For the record, what stones and wyly did violates EVERY principle of crisis counseling. Every one of them. Shame on you.

Was it percocet? And were you drinking? A friend of mine had suicidal thoughts once when he was drinking while taking percocet.

Anyway, glad you didn't do it.

Percocet....[Perks] has oxycodone in it,,an opiate...Not too bad when taken as prescribed, but some people mix it with Booze and can act as a potent depressant...

Yeah, the part you didn't highlight. What a shock. I guess it isn't there. I guess if you say, "feigned compassion, gosh your faith is crap," the feigned compassion thing is OK.

Some of you guys make me want to retch. SOmeone else's suicidal ideation is just a chance to pot a shot at someone. Absolutely disgusting.

Honestly guys, this is serious. That means atheists: stop saying stupid things like "ditch the watch" or "get help because things shouldn't be floating around". Who honestly cares? If because of that watch he's still alive that is wonderful and who cares otherwise.

Theists: Don't mention faith. This may be a really religious subject, but it will only rub the atheists that wrong way and lead to a fight. This is about supportin a brother in need.

Jedi, I hope that you remember this and that you honestly remember that you are important to the world even if you don't realize it. There are so many things that you can do to help others and I'm sure there are good things that you can do for other people.

Take care of yourself buddy. It sounds like your girl is there for you -- glad to hear that. But I do hope you seek outside help. Be well.

Neutral, I like you, I really do, but you're not thinking straight right now or something. Don't be so rude. Even BTTR isn't arguing about the religious parts of this story, and he's one of the more atheist members of this board from what I've seen. Please?

    I am not addressing BTTR.

I am addressing three atheists whom I did not think could slink any lower, who have used a man in obvious need of help, as a vessel of derision.

Jedi is a good and honorable man, and he routinely gets beat up by these guys. Now, when he shares something that is a clear and clarion call to help?

Well, lets just say that were I to come across three men acting like this with a man having suicidal thoughts, there would be instant confrontation.

Have you ever seen a suicide? Ever talked with the families? Seen them group through the pain? Some things should just not be tolerated.

As I said, my heart goes out to Jedi.

    But three people ....
