The enclosed article in two parts looks at my liberals in a different light. My liberals are also known as limousine liberals, not because they all get around town in limousines, but because they dabble at defending the unwashed, the unloved, and the unappreciative. My liberals regard the 1920s and 30s as the era of Camelot; home to the wittiest, the most brilliant, the most creative people ever assembled at the same time. My liberals have a spiritual affinity with the Algonquin Hotel. My liberals are convinced that the departed communicants who frequented the Algonquin Round Table said more of importance than did the host of the Last Supper and his quests. My liberals seldom leave Baghdad on the Hudson; whenever they do go abroad for business or pleasure they pine for Manhattan as Count Dracula longs to sleep in his native soil. My liberals tolerate equals visiting Manhattan while holding them in contempt the second they leave. My liberals will never rest until every human being on the planet accepts the printing press as the second most important invention of all time; finishing just behind the wheel. How do I know all of this since I never palled around with my liberals? Easy answer: All of my adult life, I have been inundated by the importance my liberals assigned to themselves, their opinions, and their worldview. I arrived at my conclusions from what my liberals have said over many decades in newspapers, in magazines, in movies, and on the radio and television. Everything from the theater to the Metropolitan Opera, to the fawning over the author of the latest book that nobody except liberals ever reads, or the latest stage play that 99.9999% of Americans would not go see if they had the opportunity. One way or another, the rest of us hear about those authors, books, and plays just to make sure that we do not miss something important. I will bet you that two-hundred million Americans know the names of every liberal author who ever lived. I will also bet you that not more than a minute number of Americans ever read books written by liberal authors. Yet talking about liberal authors, living and dead, is standard repartee for my liberals. I can understand the reason for the talk when it is a sales pitch. My guess is that they always talk about the same things when they are talking to each other. Liberalism is like a soap opera; a liberal can go into a thirty year coma and upon waking will not have missed a thing. And then there is the publishing industry itself. The entire liberal community in America orbits around the liberals in publishing. Liberals in the hinterland hold a janitor at the New York Times in higher esteem than Mother Teresa. Publishing is the turkey, everything else is the trimmings. Do not rush to label me a book burner because I am not knocking books per se. I read books and usually enjoy what I read. Bush's biography comes under the "people's right to know" doctrine while the entire past of Barack Obama is protected by his right to privacy, you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe that we can spend and borrow our way out of the recession in keeping with the thoroughly discredited Keynesian model, you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe that taxpayers don't change their behavior when the government tries to squeeze more tax money out of them, you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe that Americans are undertaxed, while carefully hiding your own money in offshore tax shelters, you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe, with Nancy Pelosi and Valerie Jarrett, that unemployment benefits are a boon to the economy (but without taking this brilliant insight to its logical conclusion: that the path to unprecedented prosperity lies through 100% unemployment), you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe that affirmative action improves the lot of poor minorities rather than miring them in perpetual misery and dependence, you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe that Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty failed because not enough money (a trifling $16 trillion) was spent on it, you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe that God's middle name is Kennedy, you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe that Jimmy Carter, who has been working indefatigably over the last three decades to subvert his country's foreign policy, is the best ex-president ever, you are a liberal. ∙ If you believe that the Fox News Channel is the modern-day equivalent of Völkischer Beobachter and The New York Times a light unto the world, and whatever the Times publishes is God-given truth while whatever it deems unfit to print doesn't deserve to be known, you are a liberal. ∙ If you angrily castigate your compatriots for being profligate with their energy consumption while generously allowing yourself to use more than 20 times as much energy as a regular household (see Gore, Al), you are a liberal.

Your definition of Liberals is more a definition of who you are and a testimony of your dislikes and hatred. I would rather be motivated by social responsibility than personal greed and animosity so that makes me a Liberal. There were times in this nation where the differences between Conservatives and Liberals were just as sharp but not as contentious, when both sides believed that the motivation of the other was for the betterment of the Nation. Continued spewing of hate and polarization is a characterization of personal irresponsibility and inhibits the solving of the issues.

Not much I can do to respond to that. Conservatives won't take responsibility for causing any of the current crisis and are not smart enough to fix it, they just point fingers. Time will prove the liberal view. We were the one's who gave women the right to vote, started SS, Medicare, Civil rights act, disability, unemployment insurance, food and drug safety, clean air act, and the new Health care plan. The conservatives fought every one. Go ahead and live in your cave, I predict a great Liberal future for America.
You can't afford it. The dollar is on the verge of collapse due to all the progressive programs and the ever growing percentage of Americans (now over 60%) who rely on strangers for some or all their income and produce nothing. As for the right to vote for women, did you give them the privilege of voting, like a progressive, or did you assist in removing barriers to liberty like a liberal? Your rhetoric says a lot about your belief that they don't have the right to participate, just the privilege, which can be taken away if found necessary to the progressive cause.
