The "tyrants" win if they catch you with an illegal weapon. "Disarming" people is not as easy as it sounds and even the harshest proposed legislation does not "disarm" people. A person with even just a bolt action standard Remington 700 with a decent scope, a 12 gauge pump, and a bulldog 44mag is not "disarmed." Seriously, you really DON'T have to have an AR15 with 30 round mag and a double stack 9mm to be "armed."

Armed revolt against the government isn't going to happen and dumb to plan for. But if there was - as a theoretical situation I would NOT involve in, what the government would MOST fear are BIG caliber rifles with a quality scope on it. Even our military snipers to this day use bolt action rifles, not semi-autos. If you were a police officer and assigned to go after a violent felony offender, which would you more fear? A guy with an AR15 .223 with a 30 round magazine? Or the guy with a bolt action Weatherby 460 Magnum with a sighted in day-night scope that could take down an elephant and punch thru steel plate like tissue paper from a quarter mile away? Or even a single shot 50 caliber BMG with a high end scope good to well over 1000 yards? In WWII, some snipers caused HUNDREDS of casualties. I have never read any account of anyone doing so with any hand held semi-auto or full auto rifle.

Really, the AR15 ain't all that much to brag about. It is the BOTTOM end, not the TOP end.

I've noted that before too. How many police lives and innocent people's lives are worth hunting people and guns down?

I don't see anything resembling an AR15 (maybe 1 stripped down old crappy antique thing with a magazine) or anything other than old beat up typical shotguns and rifles with wooden stocks. In short, people sold the government their old crap - after stripping off the scopes and slings. Not ONE is anything like any weapon used in a mass murder. I've got a few busted old firearms I'd sell to the government CHEAP, since I couldn't get $25 for them.

Yes...I would turn in my guns, if they bought them.

What if not? The Democrat bill proposed does not. I don't think California does with each new gun law either.

What is likely to happen, and it is likely to happen now/soon, is that certain types of weapons will have heavy restrictions on ownship. Be good Americans and accept the law.

Isn't the point there that they can be resurrected should Australias government become repressive to the point citizens are ready to resist?

If it’s time to bury your guns, it’s time to dig them up.

Then I would not. I would instead file a lawsuit for illegal seizure and theft, finding a lawyer would be quite easy and likely pro bono.

Ronstar, in your confused mental state, you are no judge of this. As the dems take control it is only a matter of time for the showdown. The dems have many ways to chip away at guns until they can repeal the 2A.

As far as give up my guns?

I don't answer the door unless I know who it is. If anyone breaks down my door I unload on them. If I die, well, that is how it will be. Once guns go...all is lost.

That picture can be a great game like "Where's Waldo". I saw at least on AR15/M-16, 2 M-14s and an AK-47 magazine, presumably with the AK in there somewhere.

Why take them on, dear? They'd be with us since many of us are them or veterans.

First, I did not say that you did anything illegal. It's just that you are asking the question for a reason. Without looking back I told you that most firearms that don't get surrendered will be confiscated because of a vindictive neighbor, a scorned wife, ex-wife, girlfriend, ex - girlfriend, or a relative (like the one who smokes weed and causes your home to be searched.)

My wife has a son by her first marriage. A few months ago the cops came here, unexpectedly, wanting to search my home to see if he was here.

    Insofar as cheap guns:

I have an AR receiver that was made by a company that was being offered a contract to build M16 lowers. It is marked SOCOM. The last time one of those lowers was sold, it brought $500. They didn't make many of them. Check it out:

    http://www.smallarmsreview.com/display.article.cfm?idarticles=2751

I can't even get $275 for it. Been trying to sell it for over a year. So, how do you figure gun prices are up? You can buy new ARs (low quality, but the average guy doesn't know the difference) for under $500. BTW, I bought a brand new Glock model 19 for $425 out the door (unfortunately it got stolen - probably the same day I bought it) and I had to report it gone.

I don't get it. People don't plan on surrendering their weapons, according to your theory. They are of no use buried. You cannot use them to defend yourself with - that would be illegal and add years to your sentence.

And even with tyranny at our doorstep, we do not rebel. We spend more time trying to pick fights with each other on discussion boards than we do figuring out how we're going to unite and fend off the power grabs that are reducing us to a third world cesspool.

    1) I think you are taking this too seriously. IIRC, you'd previously mentioned none of this would ever happen and I agree.

    2) That said, as a mental exercise, there are lots of points to discuss. It's one thing to keep a shotgun or handgun around for self-defense. The idea of burying guns is in preparation for a revolution where they'd be dug up and used for war. Sure, people are fat and content now, but after a few years of LW domination in an increasingly Socialist state, maybe enough of them would be willing to fight rather than live under tyranny.

I absolutely would turn my guns in. Unfortunately, I already lost em all in a boating accident.
