I seldom check in with the Drudge Report any more since it first started resembling leftist generated The Huffington Post about a year ago. I did look it over today, however, and I must say that I can no longer tell any difference between it and -- say -- Huffington or The Daily Kos or Slate E-zine regarding the level of Trump hatred and outright pimping of leftist messaging. So I am going to recommend that IF Trump gets re-elected then conservatives reward The Drudge Report and their effort to get Joe Biden into the White House, by totally turning your backs on this new leftist controlled media outlet. Next up? Fox News. They also seem determined to give The Drudge Report a run for their money in pushing leftist messaging.
Drudge was once a go to news aggregate where you could get every conceivable view. It leaned right but some of my favorite reads were Salon and Huff post. Not your average liberal rags and I never would have known about them except for Drudge. They actually have some thoughtful, informed writers who bring sanity to leftist journalism. To me Drudge was akin to what the Sunday NY Times used to be back in the day when it was a real newspaper. What happened to Drudge and what's his beef with Trump?
First, I don't think that Drudge owns the Drudge Report any more and thus the beef with Trump by the new owners is probably a simple matter of expanding the reach of the online 'paper'. All the conservatives that are going to view it are already viewing it and so appealing to the Left is the only way to expand viewership. That the 'paper' does not fundamentally understand conservatives is seen in that they hoestly think that they can do what they are doing while still retaining their conservative viewers.
Drudge was sold some time ago, and the result is exactly the same as other media outlets that are sold and then leveraged as propaganda. This is why it is foolhardy to form allegiance or trust for ANY personality, show, network in media. It is like trusting an actor's beliefs, vision or voice based on the roles they play, the exact same. This is why I eyeroll at people who laud the latest political entertainment content as "one of the good guys" whether those good guys are named "Drudge," "Carlson," "Owens," or any other POV that can be bought or sold. The transformation of Drudge should be a wake-up on what Op-ed media truly is, just another form of advertising. Yes, of course, it can have value, but selective value, and must always be reevaluated critically regardless of the ideological bent. Americans MUST escape ALL celebrity culture in order to escape pervasive contemporary propaganda and manipulation in the future.
In other words, you only like news coming from media that ignores Trump's incompetence and criminal activity. That explains why, even at this point, you are blissfully unaware of Trump's incompetence and criminal activity.
