GOP tax plan will explode deficit: Wharton study

    http://thehill.com/policy/finance/economy/357831-gop-tax-plan-will-explode-deficit-wharton-study

The Republican tax plan expected to be released this week will explode the deficit, according to a study from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School released Monday.

The study, which relies on the Penn Wharton Budget Model (PWBM), found that the deficit would increase by $1 trillion to $3.5 trillion over the course of the first decade, based on differing estimates of how the final plan will look. By 2040, the plans would cost between $2 trillion and $10.6 trillion.

House Republicans are set to reveal their tax plan Wednesday, adding details to the framework that calls for lowering corporate taxes, paring down the number of tax brackets and eliminating a variety of loopholes.

It seems that "the gropenfhurer" who claims that Wharton is the best school, because he graduated from its business school....well!!!!!!!!!

GOP tax plan is to ride the backs of the middle class as usual. Obviously tRUmp learned that conning was his way up the ladder.

Yes he did say we don't have to worry about the debt in the short term (and he was wrong).

But this thread isn't about the debt. It's about the deficit.

I take the liberal Democratic approach: who cares about the deficit or debt? When the sh-t hits the fan, I'll be long gone.

Hmm I heard they decided not to lower the "rich's" rate, can't imagine a democrat not supporting that? What's the argument going to be since their for the little guy and all.

Supporting a political position like supporting a team sport is not a solution.

We have a two party system and both are subservient to Wall St. over Main St.
To claim your Wall St. Party is more sympathetic to working people than the other Wall St. party
is supporting a political position like a team sport and not a solution.

Sometimes "whataboutism" is the way out of the mess and not perpetuating it.
Obama / Clinton (both) are not any friendlier to working people than the GOP,
And sometimes "whataboutism" is all too true, just as a conspiracy may be.

    Dems: Tax and spend.
GOP: Don't tax and still spend.

Nothing new here. Of course, they'll make some symbolic spending cuts, to appease the fiscal hawks. Those spending cuts will affect the poorest, who have no lobby.

I am not sure though how this will work with reconciliation, which demands the bill to be deficit neutral. They'll probably find some convoluted way around it, counting in magical 6% growth to make it appear that the deficit won't explode. We've seen it before.

I couldn't tell you what the liberal Democratic approach is. I was pointing out that this thread was not about the debt.
