Illegal Mexican may sue firefighters who rescued him

Last week, Roy Ortiz's attorney filed papers showing that his client intends to sue several first responders who took part in rescuing Ortiz last September, when he became trapped in his car on a section of U.S. 287 during a flash flood.

The document, lists Boulder County sheriff's deputies, a member of the Westminster dive team, Broomfield and the North Metro Fire Rescue District as potential defendants.

On Sept. 12, Ortiz's vehicle was washed off the road, and the rushing waters flipped the car upside down.

It took North Metro Fire Rescue about two hours to bring Ortiz to safety.

Ortiz now claims that rescuers were negligent in their duty because they should have extracted him from his car faster.

America is so protective of the illegals the past few years, offering them unheard of things like drivers' licenses, school educations, insurance, health care... all free of charge, thanks to the taxpayers.
What I'm wondering is... this entitlement that illegals like this feel they possess. Is it taught to them by the left? The Right?
Do people who are coddled to so much, begin to start expecting unreasonable things?
Does the left see this disease they have created?

Sure the lawsuit will never happen, but obviously there is a thought in his head that he could win it.

Should set up a simple sting. Tell Ortiz he needs to come down to the courthouse to get some paperwork (in Spanish). When he gets there have the INS slap him in cuffs.

 

In all fairness, this Ortiz guy would not come up with this on his own; most likely, it's the ambulance chaser's idea who also looks to be Latino... but yea, this whole notion is disturbing.

 

I actually do agree with you that the lawyer is likely urging him along, I just can't help but wonder how much it is based on that "Undocumented Citizen" (illegal alien) protection that has existed lately.

The claim that the road should have been closed may have some merit. However the attorney on Fox News didn't say if the guy was here illegally. I wonder if ten Fox News Anchor would have asked about citizenship of anyone else who wasn't Hispanic.

And of course the trial lawyers are a major monetary fund for the Dem party so tort reform is not a possibility.

 

She asked him off camera and the anchor brought it up on camera. The attorney never said he was here illegally on camera. Also if the guy suing was a white, black or even asian the topic of citizenship never would have come up.

 

If he could barely speak English of course it would be brought up....

The real question she should have asked, besides the one she asked, was does he have a valid driver license. That would have damaged his credibility much more than his legal status.

Should've let him drown=) Thats why there are good Samaritan laws now, to prevent (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)$ like this from ever suing the person who saved your life. Although I don't think you can sue a firefighter. Maybe if they drop you out a window by accident? Even then if they were saving you from a burning house, broken bones or being dead, not much of a choice.
