The quote you've included is not mine.

It's as true with a country as it is with a message board--it works best if there is cooperation and communication.

I probably have a tougher skin than you as I am older and passed through the ring of fire most older workers in this country do when they are targeted at work to get them off the payroll so younger, cheaper workers can be hired.

You have a different posting style than i do. You return quips, rather than expound upon the deeper reasonings. I made that point, earlier. There is nothing wrong with one liners & quips, & i can see that it is probably a better use of time & bandwidth, than lengthy rebuttals that are dismissed, without being read.

Yes, a one liner will get more replies, & reads, than a longer post. And, you can interject a one liner easier than a long treatise on a subject. But my analogy is not 'absurd', but is accurate. Try expounding upon some subject during an antifa heckling session. You may get in a few of your own slogans, but you can't 'analyze' or go deeper into an issue with the hecklers disrupting things.

Yeah, well I doubt we're on the same page as to the meaning of that; but if I don't go deep, it's usually because I sense there's no audience for it.

My posts don't get more reads when I'm dogpiled because they're short, but because onlookers become curious as to what all the fuss is about.

Yes, I was being charitable. Retarded is really more like it.

Get real, there aren't any of those on this board.

They can't disrupt a conversation between two people who have sense enough to ignore the legions of nincompoops - not on a board like this, anyway, especially since quote notifications have become status quo.

Gotten into trouble a bit, have you? I've had some mod interventions and warnings, but I just try to look at those as a reminder of how to conduct myself and move on. It's not a big deal. Importantly, they keep discussions from devolving into personal attacks and other bad things that they most surely would without the kind of moderation at work here. If anything, the forum could use more of it.

Yes. Cooperation between the user and the admin. That is what is lacking.

Are you sure about those two statements?

I am not going to balance my life against yours but I doubt very much that your ring (of fire) can compare with mine(pl).

Anyway, it is not what you can endure (between fellow members) that matters on a discussion forum, although it may seem so. The real issue is what sort of format is being employed and if the rules are fair and inspire an eagerness to participate. The OP clearly thinks this is not the case. I agree with him. The rules are confusing and the moderating has not been CONSISTENT in governing the fundamentals.

Those 'capable of expounding upon some subject' ....or 'hecklers'?
To the first part, you need to reread the OP, there's one gone. In the second instance, I don't know if I agree.

It's bound to happen that moderators' various prejudices will occasionally affect their actions. It's human nature.

it's hard to tell who they are, they play both sides, their goal is to divide us

anyone that defends or supports the indefensible to the extreme is questionable anymore - of either party

I used to just think they were far right or far left, now just not sure anymore

I don't think that's right; in fact I don't think Russia gives a damn about the US - Russia certainly isn't as obsessed about the US as the US obviously is about Russia.

I was gonna say if you were going to stay to simply put them on your ignore list; that way you don't have to read their screeds.

Good illustration of my points. You returned 'quips' not analysis. I gave a plausible explanation for the 'reasons' some people have difficulty with the hecklers & disrupting, & you dismissed it, doubling down by changing 'absurd' to 'retarded'. ..neither of which you established, by any logical progression, but you merely asserted, in your typical 'quips & slogans' style. I did not blast you, for your 'style' of posting, which i can see many positives for doing. Yet you feel compelled to 'blast' me. Why is that?

I don't expect a thoughtful, analytical reply, but another quip. But my analysis stands, unrefuted by reason or facts.

..been there. Done that. Have the T-shirt. If you are just exchanging quips, that is fine, & works well. But if you are engaging in a deeper analysis of some subject, the mere presence of hecklers disrupts the conversation, so it is impossible to stay on topic, as everyone is distracted & entertained by the hecklers. Try listening to a conservative speaker at Berkeley, with antifa hecklers running free. It is impossible, & the hecklers know it. That is the point, after all.

? ..not sure of the 'they'..

If you mean the hecklers, it is likely for the same reasons the antifa hecklers go to rallies: to oppose free speech, & censor any alternative views. They are convinced THEIR views are the Only Valid Beliefs about whatever topic is presented, & shout down any contrary expression. They do not use Truth & Open inquiry, but intimidation & censorship. It is anti-Enlightenment, & anti-American, & anti-human. But it is a common practice, among controllers & their enforcers.

This from a guy who idolizes superman? LOL! What other superheroes do you idolize?

Obviously you have an active fantasy life. ;) Do you get your politics from Marvel Comics [AKA Fox News]?

Let's see.. i have used the Gadsden flag, Lady Justice ( several different incarnations), a 'wake up, America!' meme, & quite a few different avatars, over the years.

I don't know how you can assume, 'idolize' from this.. i just like the quote, & have co-opted it as a meme, to reflect my values.

Here is the full quote, in context. And, btw, it is from the movie.

Lois Lane: I mean, why are you here? There must be a reason for you to be here.
Superman: Yes, I'm here to fight for truth and justice and the American way.
Lois Lane: You're gonna end up fighting every elected official in this country!

    Works for me.. :rock_slayer:

    PS.
.. i know you just meant this as a snippy reply, to make a little dig, and i can admit that fighting for 'Truth, Justice, & the American Way!' sounds a bit ostentatious or pretentious, but these are pretty central issues, if you think about them.
