Most of the illegal aliens from down South are uneducated and unskilled. They aren't all "hard workers". http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/ne...-new-majority-in-federal-prisons-report-says/
Granny says tell him not to expect any help from dat do-nothin' Congress... Obama says he can't fix immigration on his own Sep 28,`11 WASHINGTON (AP) - Facing weakening support among Hispanics, President Barack Obama expressed deep frustration Wednesday over what he called an inaccurate and damaging perception that he can fix the nation's flawed immigration system on his own.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHjKBjM1ngw"]2 girls undermine entire US border strategy in under 18 seconds - YouTube[/ame] Building a fence is really just not a practical solution when you can just climb over it. If we really want to solve the problem you need to take away the incentive to come here for free stuff and make becoming a citizen much easier. Plus the U.S. could do quite a few things domestically to help mexico keep its people there like ending the war on drugs and stop screwing over mexican farmers.
Why must we also make it easier to become a citizen? We have no obligation to absorb the world's dissatisfied masses, especially in questionable economic times. All we really need is immigration policy that's practically zero tolerance and consistent.
Ohh... Perry is already implementing his immigration plan. Observe... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWLrI7RQetQ"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWLrI7RQetQ[/ame]
Because we need these people to pick our vegetables at very cheap wages... legally. I guess for me it's more about principle that anything else. If people really want to see America as the "shining beacon of hope and freedom" in the world, you can't say screw you to those coming here for opportunity.
I don't agree that we need an underclass to do our labor. If we can pay an immigrant next to nothing to fill these mythological jobs "Americans won't do", then we can pay a natural born citizen to do the same.... regardless of their origins. There will always be uneducated, low skilled people... all born here (non-anchor birth even!).
I say screw you to them too if they come here illegally. I was talking about people who want to make it hard for people to immigrate legally.
Well, fox news, what else propaganda do you expect. These US Broadcasting media are so lame they don't even show the real action and excitement like the Latin News. FYI: In Nevada makes the Latinos make up the majority of the population in public school., more than people of no color. Most if not all of them are legal. And so are the people of no color. Amazing what the US Census turned up this year. I would think the Latinos make up a very small poulation of the isreal prison or the Egypt prison system. And there may be a few hundred in the Chinese prisons as we speak. Guantanimo has no Mexican in there prison, and it's a US run prison. LOL. Fox news, LOL.
Why do we need to pay low wages for this work? In an hour, a worker can pick HUNDREDs of pound of tomatoes. If he is paid $5 an hour, 200 lbs (they actually pick more than that) is 2.5 cents per lb. If we pay the worker $20/hr that is 10 cents per pound! Is an additional 8 cents a pound on $2.50/lb tomatoes too much to ask to help end our immigration and unemployment problems, rather than spending 100's of billions on fences that don't work because employers will smugglers? Billions to jail and deport illegals? All the money in services and schools?
You fail to take into account that tomatoes don't just arrive at the store from the field, there are quite a few steps involved, raising the cost at the field will carry over to increased costs along every step.
I did not k,now that Sneaking into America & getting Drunk & running over 3 Nuns in a Crosswalk is an Immigration offense ?
Granny says feed `em scant fare o' bread an' water an' throw dat lib'ral judge in with `em too... Mexican drug lords complain about U.S. prison conditions Friday, September 30, 2011 - At least one judge agrees that some of the confinements are too harsh for crime bosses
Perhaps you could explain this magic? How does paying the pickers more raise our costs for truckdriver pay? Or do trucks hauling tomatoes that cost a few cents per pound more to pick get lower diesel mileage? Do boxes that hold tomatoes that cost a few cents per pound more to pick require more expensive cardboard? Do store workers who make signs charge more if the tomatoes cost $2.58/lb instead of $2.50/lb?
