so its just matter of time when other developed countries (Canada, Japan, Australia, NZ, etc.) start to pump shale gas-oil using american technologies. so do states gas-stations (KSA, Muscovy, Gulf states, Algeria , Kazakhstan, etc.) have any future?

Shale oil does not have future- too dangerous for nature.

So of course, Russia has future.

You are saying that the article is incorrect? I havent looked much into it but I heard it was more like $45 per barrel to create. That was about a year ago however and I would assume that is all oil companies have been doing, to get the cost lower, so I could see it

Here is 2014, the lowest at $43.
    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-...heap-that-americans-won-t-profit-from-it.html

However this article from August 2015 says they can now still be ok when below:
"It's still cost-effective down to prices of $10 per barrel to maintain many existing wells across the United States, which is why drillers have not shut in production."

    From:
    http://www.cnbc.com/2015/08/20/us-crude-oils-break-even-cost-how-low-can-it-go.html

"Shale muscled into the middle of the cost curve in the $30 to $70 cost level, but the price of producing a barrel of oil is still heading downward, Lee said..."

"n North Dakota's Bakken formation, the break-even cost has fallen into the $20s in some counties, the state's Department of Mineral Resources reported last month. Producing a barrel of oil would still be profitable at $24 in Dunn County, down from $29 last October."

So according to that last quote, $24 - $29 from Oct 2014 - August 2015, or a 20% drop in 10 months. Even if you do it linearly it would be close to another 20% drop putting it the teens.

I could easily see them making big discoveries and bringing it even lower, so wow, the OP's article could be telling the truth.

If true the OP's premise could be true, counties that rely heavily on oil will be in for a big change as the world naturally has lower prices and countries begin to become self sufficient.

So you don’t think that if Russia refuses to diversify their economy they/you will be in a world of hurt?

Here is an interesting chart of what % oil makes up for a countries exports. Sorry for all the posts but earlier I said I was gonna do some yugoogalizing and it has turned up really great info. My country could easily see oil independence in the near future which is amazing for quite a few reasons.

Here is a good chart to see what countries depend on oil the most. Canada was brought up in the thread earlier, I was totally ignorant to that and didn’t know until now. They are nowhere near the middle East countries and Russia but its pretty high, interesting. Here is the chat and the top 3 plus a couple notables.

    http://bruegel.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/MD_241115_2.png

    1 – Iraq @ 99.8%
    2 – Libya @ 97.7%
    3 – Venezuela @ 97.7%
    11 – Saudi Arabia @ 87.4%
    14 – Russia @ 71.2%
    15 – Iran @70.5%
    17 – Norway @ 67.4% (surprised me)
23 – Canada @ 27.3% (ended up being quite small, although still 23rd place.

Litwin, Russia is going to survive without oil, and will continue to keep troops along its borders as long as it is provoked. So the best bet for the Russophobics, is to forget their dreams of triumphism, and to raise their white flag before it is too late. :truce:

gas stations make as much profit regardless of price, they raise and lower the sale price to be profitable, so they make the same profit per gallon either way
