300 million people selecting a leader in this pseudo-construct we call a nation. One who will force their vision on the people contained within and make decisions in our name.

I reject your top-down system. In you I have no faith.

This is a thread to reject the idea of a fellow human-being controlling any aspect of your life. Join the devolution.

Don't look at me, I'd be happy with a drinking bird with a veto stamp for a head as president.

Go ask the progressives why they want a modern day American Mussolini err FDR.

Sorry, but I disagree. This is a society and as such, we live with others. We are connected through government we elect at the local, state and federal level. We may bash our government, boycott our government, recall our government when it fails to act in our best interest, but bottomline in, in a society of our 300 million, we need governance.

Don't like the outcome in 2012? Work harder to get what you want in 2016 by becoming active in the process.

That'd be my best advice to you.

Thanks for the advice. I was being a bit extreme. lol. But looking at this from purely a subjective viewpoint, it seems ridiculous to centralize power to a degree of controlling 300 million people. Therefore, I will always support a limited federal government candidate over an all-encompassing federalist/globalist. The further the power slips from your fingertips, the less control the individual has over the laws that will corral them.

I find this most peculiar in progressive-think. Corporations own our government and corporations are bad! More government will surely take care of the problem!!

I have no faith in the 300 million collective, and they have validated my concerns. How America became a superpower and what has happened since then is a mystery to me....not really...individualism has been ripped to shreds in favor of collectivist ideology, year after year, more laws and more control. Liberty is the solution.

Unless we have a government which protects the rights of citizens against the cruelties and profits of corporations to harm employees on the workplace, pay them slave wages, deny them health protection, and make sure all citizens are educated to the highest potential they can achieve, then we have a fascist government where people don't matter over profits. We can't have pollution killing our children while the corporations do not pay for health care or provide for it at a reasonable cost to its employees....we have government to level the playing field between the rich and the poor to create good economic opportunities for them all. Like we did in the 60's when we were a super power.

And that's not progressive think..that's a right wing blogger talking about what he wants you to believe is progressive think.

Your government is not doing that. Your government is fascist. What now? I don't read right-wing bloggers. I look at the big picture and see what is happening. Progressive thinktanks are full of representatives from global corporations. Progress is rule by the elite and complete control over every aspect of the lives of sheep. Liberty is individual and property rights protection and voluntary labor/property exchanges.

A 'European' ruling elite occupying America is using liberty to cause tyranny, because they know how American history went.
What America need are all Robin Hoods out there combined. Liberate the people.
The problem for the online Robin Hoods is that their liberating messages are censored, blocked and/or filtered in many places by the king's big brother.

I don't think they're using "liberty" to cause tyranny. They are using war propaganda and fear-mongering to create tyranny.

Just mention Al Queda and you can take all of these fools' rights away.

    Nonsense.

And someone can explain me what is a progressive? Ah. With this of progressive and conservative it remembers me the liberal system of Spain in the XIX century. That was a complete failure for the lack of democracy, and one of the reasons was the turnism. Thing that in USA is completely alive: the turnism.

Progressive is a non-inflammatory label for any idea that suggests that any government solution or action is for the betterment of the nation. You see, to ultimately progress into a sustainable and fair future, we must agree to rewriting our constitution and going along with the latest trend from the latest dictator. It's a good way to destroy a nation.

    1) A progressive is someone who believes that you can solve all problems with government spending or limiting human liberty.

    2) Turnism? You mean turnismo? I've never seen anyone use the term turnism. How so? First of all, our system is designed to prevent rapid change and for good reason. There is no failure of democracy. And no, if anything we have far more electoral control over our republic than other western nations because we have primaries where the voters choose candidates, not the parties. It sounds to me like you are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole because you found a square peg in your European history class last semester.

None of you are worthy of ruling my life. I have no faith in you or in Egyptian sun gods and the spinoffs.

I expect more declarations of faith when I return in the morning. At this point, I have no faith in Americans, Africans, or Asians.

If you ask me,....the government is rigged......The people dont elect the president, the electoral college does...and they are corrupt........It really does not matter who the people want to be elected....

say that the system needs to beworked so that the people can call for a vote of no confidence and impeach the president and other elected officals outside of the general elections...Under the current system...

No one is worthy of ruling your life but you. Only a narcissist thinks he can and a sociopath will do it anyway. Or in other words the people who run for office.

That's why most power should reside at the local and state levels with the Federal level having a less direct impact on the individual while attending to and coordinating issues that relate to whatever can't be accomplished adequately at the more local levels. That's the bottom-up approach advocated by Jefferson in contradistinction to Hamiltonian Fat Pig control-freak-friendly govt we have today.
