Some of you have in the past ignorantly assumed that any internet laws did not matter because internet users could always use a VPN.

Well now India has just passed a law that requires all VPNs operating to keep user's data and hand it over to authorities when requested. Foreign companies that do not comply will have their sites blocked. In other words, this is going to turn into a war against anonymous VPNs, with government constantly trying to find their addresses and block them.

You won't be able to simply type into a search "VPN", because the government will have already gone through all those search results and blocked any of those addresses that did not comply to the government requirements.

    This is not real anonymity.

Some VPN companies are already ceasing to offer services in India as a result of this new law.

Probably China will be soon to follow.
