The secretary of Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) says the country has ranked first in the region and eighth in the world in science production in the field of nanotechnology, Press TV reported. Addressing the first specialized conference on nanotechnology in electricity and energy on Wednesday, Saeed Sarkar said Iran ranked first in the region and 8th in the world by April 2013 in terms of nanotechnology by producing more than four percent of the world' nanoscience. "The production of nanoscience in the country has such a growing trend that Iran's rank improved by around 50 places between 2000 and 2012," the official said. According to Sarkar, more than 15,000 experts and researchers are currently working in the nanoscience domain in the country. He said that the top priorities of the INIC include energy, health, water, environment and construction works, adding that 57 nano-related laboratories are currently up and running across the country. The Islamic Republic established the INIC in 2003 to promote the nation's international ranking among the countries enjoying cutting-edge nanotechnology. Iran has made considerable growth in nanotechnology over the recent years and the country produces a wide range of nano-materials. In late January, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad unveiled eight new indigenous nano-products with carbon structure, which are used in the oil industry. Nanotechnology is believed to be able to create many new materials and devices with a vast range of applications, such as in medicine, electronics, biomaterials and energy production.
Well there's an unbiased source, while I would never have bought "8th in the world" I may have bought "1st in the region" if Israel and Turkey were not "in the region" but they are. Here is the actual study on the subject, the United States leads the world, Israel leads the region, and Iran doesn't even rank: http://electroiq.com/blog/2010/08/ranking-the-nations/
Here are two more indicators IE nanotechnology spending and registered nanotechnology patents, again Iran doesn't even rank: http://cientifica.com/wp-content/up...Global-Nanotechnology-Funding-Report-2011.pdf http://www.nanopinion.eu/sites/defa...an_indicator_of_nanotechnology_innovation.pdf The information provided by your article comes from the INIC founded and Iranian .com registered statnano.com as demonstrated by a simple WHOIS search: http://whois.net/whois/statnano.com It's propaganda not based in reality.
While the ranking is laughable, the direction is commendable. Let Iranians concentrate on science and the betterment of humanity, not on supporting terror all over the world, building nukes and threatening UN member states with erasing them from the pages of time.
Personally, I find more to worry about from Terrorists with advanced Nanotech than terrorists with Nukes...but that's just me.
I am enthusiastic about Iran advancing in science. I think it will bring them out of the reverent confines that inspires contempt and hostility. Iran's recent acceptance of the West seemed inevitable. Good for Iran.
Listen, you can quote the Iran propaganda office to the local natives. Coming here with this BS is another story. There are some good Iranian scientists, but they don't work for your Gov.
Peaceful nuclear technology, space science & technology, military technology, nanotechnology ... Step by step, confident and unflinching. Sorry to say this, your opinions don't have any worth due to lack of information and Zionist propaganda BUT THE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD BE AWARE IN YOUR COUNTRIES KNOW WELL WHAT IS HAPPENING IN IRAN. I mean your leaders. It is why they are uneasy.
You know...I happen to know a great deal about the current level of Nano Tech. and there are some 18 and 19 year old KIDS working in this field at MIT that have 100 times the current level of knowledge and technology that Iran currently has in Nano Tech!! LOL!!! Thus this statement is a JOKE!!! Nuclear Technology??!! Iran!!?? REALLY!!!??? You cannot possibly be this uninformed as every bit of current Nuclear Technology and Reactors in Iran was supplied and sold to them BY RUSSIA!!!! SPACE!!!??? IRAN!!??? LOL!!! Space! This one is too funny to even comment upon!! As far as Military Tech.....99.99% of all current Iranian Military Tech. is RUSSIAN OR CHINESE!! We have some gangs in South Central that have a higher level of weapons technology!! Ahhh!! LOL!! You are bringing me to tears I am laughing so hard!!! LOL!! AboveAlpha
You know I have talked about this before but I will do so again. In my town we have a very hard working Iranian American Family that went through Hell and High Water just to get out of Iran and they now own their own Restaurant and they all became American Citizens as well they have children 5 of which 3 were born in the U.S. thus they were born American's. I go to their business often for breakfast and they are very warm and loving people and never waste an opportunity to talk to other American's who are their customers about how we as American's should thank GOD we are living in the U.S. and never had to go through and experience the HELL their family had to in Iran and especially trying to get out of Iran. The Mother of this family and I have held long discussions about how she was once held and tortured by members of the Iranian Secret Police when they came to suspect their family was attempting to leave Iran as they already had relatives who had left Iran and came to my state and thus the Secret Police were suspicious. She has told me that it is just a matter of time before the Old Iranian Religious Guards grip on the people will be lost and that Iran will eventually become a TRUE DEMOCRACY...not the sham that it is now with the Old Religious Guard first deciding who can run for President and deciding who will win. I applaud Iran loosening internet access restrictions, and allowing Iranian citizens to voice their views that are contrary to the official ones
Does this mean that you prefer that Iran stay in the dark ages and continue to have factions that promote terrorism?
That's a stretch.... I would say it means he prefers to stay on topic and say that Iranian tech is lacking. So bad that his picture is that of heir higher tech. But you can spin it however you want I suppose.
