I can't find similar issues or resolutions. My kid's iPhone 5 is doing all kinds of crazy stuff. It will suddenly take a screen shot, switch to power off screen, lock, go to the home screen. All of this is random. Very weird. Any suggestions?

Is this still happening after a shut down/restart or a full restore? First guess would be a software glitch, like maybe an update that corrupted something, and second guess would be a hardware failure in the main board. Goofy things are usually caused by goofy events or failures when an electronic component begins to break down/fail.

Pull the battery and force a reset, like I had to do with my android phone once, long ago....

    Oh.. Wait.
    Apple won't let you.

Are you able to successfully shut it off?

Apples says I get a free battery replacement and on/off button replacement. Appointment tomorrow. They say it's the battery.

Well maybe. The way this phone is acting, I think we'll be elated if it is the battery. I searched all over the web and can't find any similar problems. Thanks for trying to help.

    Hope that fixes the problem.
If not, maybe the repair tech will be familiar with the issues and what's behind them.

It was the on/off button. Everything it was doing was a function of that switch. Apple would've replaced that and the battery, but it would take a week with no loaner phone. So we get a free replacement Friday instead! What was that you were saying about your Android?

I was saying, if I need to do a hard "battery-pull" reset (which I needed to do once last year), or buy a new battery because the original is getting weaker, or buy a bigger capacity battery so my charges will last a lot longer..... I can. ;)

Anyway, glad things worked out for you.
