As the rumors grow, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei remains defiant.

"The other impact (of regional uprisings) that is very important is the weakness of the Zionist regime because the Zionist regime is truly a cancerous tumor in this region that should be cut and will be cut," Khamenei said.

Well, I guess this says in pretty simple terms what Iran has in mind for Israel and it's future.

Bush referred to the "regime" that should be "removed". Either side is capable of colorful language (such as "cancerous tumor").


Someone declares that another country has a bad ruler/gov that should be removed.
If we [USA] say it about another country, then that's OK.
If another country [that the USA is not allied with] says it, then it's not OK?


The reasons to say [and do] such a thing may be different, but the act is entirely the same IMO. Had Iran said this about Syria, we would likely have welcomed the words... but of course we must support our allies [just as Iran would support theirs].
