24/09/2011 13:54 Erbil, Sept.24 (AKnews)- MPs from various blocs are allying for a campaign against a bloc leader who advocated self-rule for Iraqi Kurdistan region while the leader reiterates his support for the cause.

Through the social network of facebook, some 30 MPs have demanded that White Iraqiya leader, Hasan Alawi, be stripped of his parliamentary immunity, charged and tried for remarks he made recently during a forum of the Kurdistan Writers Syndicate in Erbil.

Mr. Alawi, who is also a prominent Iraqi writer had warned in the forum that Kurds should not miss the chance to declare a state now or they will never have a second chance.

Citing to AKnews, the opposition leader, whose bloc currently includes only eight ex-Iraqiya MPs, said he won’t take back his word about the formation of a Kurdish state.

‘I will support the formation of the Kurdish state any way and declare my support for it,’ he said.

If the ‘self-determination’ and formation of a Kurdish state is against the Iraqi constitution, ‘then why the Iraqi sides do not receive the demands of Kurds ....,’ Mr Alawi asked.

He thought demanding a Kurdish state is ‘legal.’

Commenting on the campaign against him, White Iraqiya leader said ‘when I speak I am afraid of no one because my words are right.’

    He described the efforts ‘futile’.

‘They [campaigners] do not want peoples [Iraqis] attain their goals and hope to constantly step on Kurds as the former Baath regime,’ Mr. Alawi added.
