Hey, maybe in 30 years if Russia spends ever single dollar it makes the entire time and commits it's entire population into slave labor they MIGHT be able to catch their military up to what the US standard is today. That being said, in 30 years the US will have advanced far more then it currently is so Russia would still be out of luck.

Maybe the US realizes that if things degenerate into a total war situation, everyone has already lost. Look at what happened in the last total war with 1940's tech! So equipping a military to fight regional wars to avoid big ones is the way to go.
Funny, you write this as if you're an American, but we have all seen the propaganda you and your fellow Russians spew here on a regular basis. WWIII ? That's so cute. Want to know the biggest difference between the U.S. Military and Russia? Force projection. The U.S. can deliver and support it's military forces anywhere in the world. Russia has problems moving their's across it's own borders.
If that's the case, what's our government's concern with Ukraine? Leave that to the Europeans and leave us out of it. They were on some kind of peace accord it seems like and peace is always better than war. Except for military profits to be made of course.
Because the Russians made a deal to never invade Ukraine. An international system in which deals aren't taken seriously is not a path to peace.
What makes you think progressives would even oppose an October Revolution? Communism is the progressives ideal form of government and socialism is their ideal economy.
