so i read up on the bbc news today and saw this article about how asia will overlap europe and america economically by 2030. i personally am sceptical, but it's still plausible. however i'm thinking, if we (and i'm speaking from an Americans standpoint) can create an alternative energy source and control it, we may be able to remain economically powerful. so essentially, an alternative form of energy would be a wildcard in the global economy, shattering predictions for the future depending on who creates and harnesses it.
