Is Giving to Political Campaigns Considered a Tax-Deductible "Charity" Contribution?

    If not, why is a "gift" to a church that turns around and spends that money supporting bigoted political agendas considered to be "charity" in the tax code and by the right, who like to claim that conservatives are more "charitable?" Sounds like they've just found a way to work around the system (surprise, surprise, with Mitt Romney as their poster boy) to get tax write-offs to support their favorite bigoted candidates and legislation.
