    The Progressive Utopia?

    prison.jpg

    Think about it.

    1. Free health care. No having to sign up on the exchanges even.

    2. Free food and shelter.

    3. Equality. Everyone lives the same, eats the same, showers the same, dresses the same.

    4. There are 5 times more Obama voting minorities than evil racist whites.

    5. There is so much gay sex going on that every day is like a gay pride parade.

    6. The only people with guns are the guards. Talk about being "safe".

    7. You are free to pursue an education, with loads of free time and tax payer funded materials.

    8. Each prisoner contributes to a reduction of their carbon footprints. No more driving cars, making carbon emitting babies, and they are all forced to recycle.

    9. The state will be tolerant of your beliefs. No one will much care what you think so long as you are powerless and behind bars. Being economically crippled is the key to preserving your freedom of speech and thought.

    10. You will never have to work a day in your life, unless you leave into the scary Tea Party dark universe on the outside.

What's your solution(s) to these "problems" you listed regarding "The Progressive Utopia"?

That's a very insightful and hilarious piece. There's only one problem. Aren't *********s Republicans, and aren't Republicans usually the law and order party???

The issue is collectivism. We must reverse it.

Just look at what the Progressives did at the turn of the 20th century, they amended the Constitution.

What did this do? It created a cash cow out of the federal government, created the Fed to help spend beyond what they took in as revenue, and stopped states from electing Senators to office.

All of these amendments stripped states of their power and created the centralized Leviathan we now see today.

The solution is for states to rise up and amend the Constitution, which they have the power to do under Article V. They should impose term limits and a balanced budget, among other things. There are other ideas, but you get the drift.

    - - - Updated - - -

Whoever is at the helm of the centralized wheel becomes a warden of the inmates.

It is only when power is redistributed back to the states, where it belongs, will dictator like power be stripped.

Don't take this as an argument, simply a clarification. I have worked in the corrections system and I have to disagree with:

#3- Everyone is not equal. There are segregated units for gays, former law enforcement personnel, inmates that have welched on a debt, snitches, those that have refused to align themselves with any gang, etc. Also, there are inmates that have created such chaos that they are confined 23 hrs. a day.

#6-Not entirely the case. There have been sweeps done at maximum federal prisons that have netted weapons of all types, including shotguns. As far as being safe, if your fellow inmates want you dead, you're dead. There are lifers in states without the death penalty who hire out to other inmates as contract killers. It doesn't matter to them if they spend 5 or 10 years in solitary.

When I first entered law enforcement, one of my instructors told us that the greatest power we would have was to deprive someone of their freedom. In my opinion, all of the "perks" listed can't make up for that. BTW, you hit #5 right on the nose.
    Enjoy!
(P.S.-I do realize you were being facitious. Just thought I'd stick my 1 1/2 cents in:wink:)

I will agree that bad things have been done in the name of collectivism and Progressivism. I am well aware of the damages done caused by Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, Woodrow Wilson, and of course, FDR, and others. So I can understand your stance against Progressivism.

That being said, what's your solution to collectivism? Give me a more precise and descriptive concept of your choice of solution to this crippling society.

UPDATE: I didn't read the bottom paragraph concerning the constitution. I'll address that in this update of my reply to your reply of me.

If you want to give the states more power, I suggest to extend that to creating independent communities known as "transition towns", and maybe enforce the Constitution on those communities that you brought about with others.

Oh and on Collectivism. What's your counteraction to Collectivism? What do you mean by Collectivism?
