    Who can blame you?

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6E_f6Hw_l0"]Tool - Sober - 1991 Demo - YouTube[/ame]

    1991 demo.

Also a nice bootleg at the Jello Loft 1991 out there on youtube.

IMHO bootleg music and concert footage is the most valuable asset of Youtube.

Was acting funny. Had to do multiple selections to find a "match" ,each taking about 3-4 minutes. Finally got confirmed. I assume demand was high.

Meh, I was a casual fan when I was younger. Seen them live a few times. Once back when they were still a club band. I think they've gotten very bland and repetitive in the last ten years or so. There's a lot to ruin this band. The excessive pretentiousness being the main thing. Both from Maynard and his fans alike who he amusingly mocks at every turn and most of them don't even seem to get it.

That said, they do have their moments. I still enjoy "4 Degrees" and "Crawl Away" and "Intolerance" and some of the stuff on Aenima.

Please go into more detail...because mainly I disagree with most of what you say.

Its fair to say I will be biased.

I dont imagine theres a bigger fan than I.

    Explain how he's mocked me.

Maynard dismisses the "worship" of celebrities, he wishes for the message in the music to be recognized, not the personalities behind the music. Hence the reason why they have only appeared in one music video, however even then, they did not play a large role.

Any blind worship is worthy of mocking in his world, and I wholeheartedly agree. For years Scientology was his target,of course Christianity, toured thru 1998 as Rev. Maynard mocking televangetlists, addiction and junkies, as you mentioned celebrity, superficiality, all things that should be mocked. I dont get the impression he's being pretentious. From interviews and the fact that the lyrics rely heavily on personal experience its almost possible to follow a path or ideology that evolves and is dynamic...yet cryptic and vague enough for you or me as a listener to interpret it in any way we see fit.

Ive gone to many Tool shows and seen hours and hours on youtube. This is where you can see the evolution most prominently. Musically, lyrically, ideological, its impossible IMO to say theyve remained bland and repetitive in any aspect of their existence.

Too lets their music speaks for itself. They dont release official lyrics and long gone are the days of Maynard donning the stage in drag or speedos or anything else, front and center.

Opiate would be a great example of their disdain of worship. Reverend Maynard...... Hicks did a skit on this, it is recorded in the Undertow track Disgustipated.

I believe the album you are referring to is AEnima, I found the album highly dismissive and condescending towards our brainless pop culture. We idolize the wrong people and ideas.

    (*)(*)(*)(*) L Ron Hubbard and
    (*)(*)(*)(*) all his clones.
    (*)(*)(*)(*) all these gun-toting
    Hip gangster wannabes.

    Learn to swim.

    (*)(*)(*)(*) retro anything.
    (*)(*)(*)(*) your tattoos.
    (*)(*)(*)(*) all you junkies and
    (*)(*)(*)(*) your short memory.

    Learn to swim.

    (*)(*)(*)(*) smiley glad-hands
    With hidden agendas.
    (*)(*)(*)(*) these dysfunctional,
    Insecure actresses.

    Learn to swim.[/quote]

They are far from repetitive. Opiate was angry, Undertow is sadness and anger, AEnima seems to be anger and the dismissal of shallow behavior, Lateralus understanding and spirituality, 10,000 Days is a slight extension of Lateralus.... with the inclusion of the dismissive nature of AEnima.

    ....

    ....

    ....

They let me take my camera, and I still took pictures and audio. However my cousin said they are much more strict at Tool concerts..... so I suppose we shall see.

I took my iphone which has a pretty decent camera to APC in June. Recorded a couple of videos but my horrible singing over Maynards and my random chit chat kinda ruined the magic. I was wrecked for that show. Im sure I wont have an issue getting my phone into TooL. I intend on getting the whole playlist on video and not making the same mistake twice.

    Love reflection hence the signature.
