And two years later the Democrats had the deficit at $1,400B and kept it over $1,000B for the next four years. They never even came close to the Republicans worst deficit of $400B. And the 52 months of full employment at average LFPRs, rising incomes, soaring tax revenues and the deficit heading to surplus even with the war spending was certainly not the worst economy in twenty five years.

No it isn't Presidents don't cause recession and besides that the Democrats were in control of the government controlling both the House and the Senate. He did attempt to get them to make the tax rate cuts permanent which would have helped mitigate the effects of the recession but they were having no part of it. Instead they preached higher taxes and more regulations once they took the White House along with taking over healthcare and started massive government spending increases and investors ran for the hills and the economy tanked in response. And when they did get total control they passed their foolish stimulus and the investors stayed away and business would not expand under the tax and regulation onslaught. If they had done nothing we would have gone into a full recovery a long time ago.

 

Obama was in charge of the wars the last 8 years, you seem to forget that. I showed you even at the peak the deficit was only $239B including the special appropriation for the wars, how close did the Democrats get to that? So address what I posted about the Bush deficits and what happened once the Democrats took control when the wars were essentially over by then. What did THEY do to the deficit and debt and how long will we be paying for that?

The financial regulations were written so that any gov bonds and mortgage backed securities required the least in reserves.
