So much for "ISIS and Islamic Terrorism has nothing to do with Islam," "Islam is a religion of peace," etc. Yet we see an uptick in terrorist attacks during the month of Ramadan, a month of "fasting" celebrating the revelation of the Quran to the "prophet" Muhammed.

    What do you guys think?

Seems to me it is proving the point that this is NOT about religion.

Flip it around...what if we were talking about an extremist Christian group that made precision attacks on Christian holidays and at Christian holy sites. Would we still blame the religion, or the group?

A major difference is that the Bible does not say to killnon Christian's, whereas the Quran commands Muslims to kill non Muslims. Ask yourself this, why do we see so many Islamic terrorists groups, and so few Christian ones?

And you're basing this on what??? Seems to me you don't understand all the varieties of Christendom, let alone Islam.

Seems to me it's entirely about religion because you don't see people doing this in the name of China, Mexico or Upstate New York.

Historically, there have been many Christian terrorists groups. In fact, it's not a far stretch to say that the conquest of the modern world was driven by Christian militancy. Christianity is older than Islam and not as centralized. It is not a fair argument when the the evolution of these two religions differ so greatly.

Why? Of course religion is the common denominator on all the worldwide attacks. You don't see a person screaming Nebraska is great before blowing himself up and taking others with him, do ya?

Let me also highlight a major difference in the evolution of Christianity and Islam.

Christianity never had to compete with secularism. The Romans were polytheists. Christianity filled the vacuum of power left by the fall of the Roman Emperors and replaced it with Papal authority.

Islam, started a few hundred years after Christianity, didn't have to compete with a polytheistic empire. It was perfectly fine by itself, branching off into its own differing sects. Where the problems began for Islam, and the Middle East in particular, was when post WWI, the Middle East was divided by Western Powers for its own benefits by secular governments. It paid little to no respect for the people or their religion. That festered for generations. Isis is the culmination of all that festering.

So while it is easy and lazy to blame it on the religion - the religion is merely a vehicle for retribution and some form of sovereignty.

If the religion taught hate in its text like Islam does you might have a point.

But it doesn't so you dont.

Islam is a hateful religion and it is taught that way around the world. That's why you see human rights in Muslim dominated countries almost non existent compared to Christian dominated ones.

Good Lord where did you get this fantasy from? Islam spread through war more than any other religion on this planet and it attacked everyone from monotheists to polytheists.

Mohammad was a warlord and his followers spread that religion the same way he did. Through war.

The three men in Virginia wanted to start a race war.

They planned to rob a jewelry store and use the money to stockpile guns, ammo and explosives. Then they would charge into churches and synagogues, slaughtering as many people as possible in the name of their religion.

The man in Kansas wanted to kill as many Jewish people as possible. So he drove to two Jewish centers, where he shot and killed three people, all of them Christians. He told the court that sentenced him to death that he had mistaken his victims for Jews.

“I wanted to kill Jews, not people,” he told the court that sentenced him to death.

Across the country in Spokane, Washington, another man plotted to kill President Barack Obama. Prosecutors say he planned a “final solution,” a battle that would ultimately be won by stealing nuclear material for dirty bombs or flying hijacked airplanes into buildings.

These men, and possibly thousands more like them across the United States, share a common religious ideology.

They’re white supremacists who have turned to an ancient heathen religion known most commonly as Odinism. In at least six cases since 2001, professed racist Odinists have been convicted of plotting — or pulling off — domestic terrorism attacks, according to a review of terrorism cases by Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting.

And across the Atlantic, the man who carried out the 2011 mass murders at a summer camp in Oslo, Norway, Anders Breivik, has attracted new attention after telling a court he long has identified as an Odinist.

Odinism is a perfect fit for a strain of white supremacists and neo-Nazis who think Christianity, like so many other institutions, has been corrupted by outsiders and weakened by passivity.

Today’s racist Odinists say it is the only pure religion for white people, one not “mongrelized” by the Jewish prophet Jesus. They see themselves as warriors, ready to reclaim America for the white race and fight against a white genocide, driven by Jews, that has left the greatest country on Earth in tatters.

And so your solution is what?

Eliminate Islam? A religion practiced by more than 1 billion people?

I'm an atheist. I don't have much use for religion myself, but it is rather silly to blame the religion unless you want eliminate all of them.....and I don't really see too many people calling for that.

You would definitely blame the religion.

    And so would I.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Islam was beset by enemies from the beginning.

    Go away.
