But, they are right, guns are a greater threat to anyone in this country than islamic terrorism (and i mean by even the most generous measurements, its an astronomical difference). And, planned parenthood reduces that risk way more than trumps travel ban reduces the risk of terrorism.

I wonder tho.....just how many in the UK use to talk about what were the chances that their people would be injured in a terrorist attack. Although after a few of those attacks. I doubt to many say that anymore.

 

This only works if they're not U.S. citizens. That means "back" in some situations can mean going from Atlanta to Houston for example.

Guns by themselves aren't a greater threat to anyone. Of course most know the greater threat to others.....is other humans.

 

Look, I'm all for bombing isis and al queda and hunting down and killing leaders, and in general making terrorism an issue that we are dealing with. That's fine, but around the world, the fear of climate change should massively dwarf the fear of terrorism.

And in the end, their chances are still almost 0. Only about 200 hurt in a country of some 50 million. Dogs and cats are still a bigger threat. And plus, how long have islamic terrorists been around, so spread that number out. Or don't, attacks may even be more frequent now, and sure its time to keep an eye in muslims, but this is not a significant threat.

 

Oh, I haven't looked at the stats if they even exist, but I can almost guarantee the number of gun murders committed by card carrying members MASSIVELY outweigh the terrorist deaths in this country. All you need is one drunken cheated on redneck in one out of every 10,000 trailer parks, and we are off and running.

Oh, I'm not advocating banning guns. I am saying that if we could evaporate every private gun in the country, you would instantly save a gigantic number of people, and if you could do the same to muslims you would save almost nobody.

So, if you are going to advocate a violation of fundamental rights, it makes way more sense to ban guns than a religion.

 

Yet in Underdeveloped countries. They don't even think about Climate change as an issue that they are worried about. So that fear has to be installed for them. Despite the science not all being there.

I would think their odds went up with as many attacks as they have had. Same with the French. Whereas before it just wasn't a concern.

 

I don't know the stats either. But then again.....I don't have the false sense of security that the US is immune to such attacks.

You might be able to save some.....but you would not get rid of the violence. Nor would you stop mankind coming up with more ways to perpetrate that violence.

Before guns, there were swords. Knives, clubs etc etc. Death being even more brutal.

 

Oh, some do for sure, and all should since they will most likely bear the initial brunt. More to the point, the ones that don't aren't exactly at the top of the science literacy charts.

The science is about as there as it gets, if you want 100% certainty of anything too bad. You can't even get 100% certainty that your next step won't see you falling through the earth.

The odds are a little better with climate change but they aren't much better or are they are worse than the odds that smoking causes cancer or vaccines cause autism.

The perceived odds for sure. Real odds, that's hard to say, there are a lot of factors to consider. But at best, it went from almost indistinguishable from to zero to a number slightly larger than almost indistinguishable from zero (not of another attack happening, but of it affecting any individual.)

 

Oh, sure, there might be an attack, it just won't affect you or anyone you know. And, other than hysteria, it won't be any more impactful to our society than a shark attack.

No, nothing is ever 100% it would only drastically reduce it by a number that massively dwarfs all American deaths by islamic terrorist.
